Owners of 'haunted' Louisiana home that has been compared to the Amityville Horror House want to give the property away for FREE

A Louisiana real estate firm is giving away a free house for anyone willing to relocate it - the only catch is that it's haunted.

Sylvia McLain, the co-owner of McLain Investments, posted pictures of the house, located in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Facebook in March, saying it was up for grabs, gratis, to anyone who was willing to pick up the house and move it off the property.

She wrote that the 'iconic home' was built in the late 1920s to early 1930s and that it had been unoccupied for the last six months, but was 'vacated due to development,' after her company bought the land.

it’s an interesting idea. There is a lady around here with an allegedly haunted house that cannot get rid of it in situ

are we running out of weirdos with money? Used to be a “haunted” place would find some freaky person who would want one.

Give the house away for a tax write off. Saves you the expense of tearing it down and hauling it away. The ghost story is to sweeten the pot to catch a patsy. The ‘give away’ contract will include a 3 month time limit for removal. If not gone, new owner is responsible for the demolition and clean up costs.
There ain’t no free lunch. For us citizens, anyway.

You fools! there is nothing wrong with the house! it is haunted because the developer disturbed the grave of the pirate Jean LeFoote.

If the owner insist on being supersitous they should donate it to the local fire dept. for burning practice and rebuild.

The owner could turn it into a B&B. = A Colonial Era tavern in VA has a female ghost who is routinely seen by staff/guests. - The tavern/guesthouse has become the “IN place” to stay in that city.

As the old saying goes: “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”

Gadsby’s Tavern in Alexandria, VA. = The ghost wears a 18th century blue dress.

Also, The Excelsior Hotel in Jefferson, Texas also has a female ghost (”Diamond Lil”), who was murdered there by her lover & is also routinely seen by guests.
(An old friend of mine & his wife CLAIM to have seen her IN their room, on their wedding night, some years ago. = Danny says that IF she does NOT appear to you during your honeymoon that you are NOT “approved of”.)

Thanks. I’ve been to Gadsby’s but didn’t know about the ghost. It’s a great place to eat and will definitely go back now that I know about the ghost.

I’ve been to 2 wedding suppers there & those were the ONLY wedding meals, that I’ve ever had, that were REALLY GOOD.
(Not a “rubber chicken” in sight.)

Are they sure it's ghosts?

That's voodoo territory; it might be zombies.

Btw, the female ghost in the blue early 1800s dress is known as “Prudence”, in case you should encounter her.
(I rather always hoped that I would see her, as I’m told that “sightings” are commonplace, including by the Alexandria Chief of Police & a Deputy District Attorney, who thought, when they saw her sauntering down a hallway, that she was “part of the tavern’s entertainment”.)

According to numerous local sources, “Prudence” never speaks to adults but has spoken numerous times to “the under 10 set” of guests, who report that she is: A nice older lady..

Thanks. I’ll probably try to go on an Alexandria ghost tour. I’ve been to a lot of the ghost tours in Virginia but haven’t hit this one up yet.
