Give the house away for a tax write off. Saves you the expense of tearing it down and hauling it away. The ghost story is to sweeten the pot to catch a patsy. The ‘give away’ contract will include a 3 month time limit for removal. If not gone, new owner is responsible for the demolition and clean up costs.
There ain’t no free lunch. For us citizens, anyway.

The owner could turn it into a B&B. = A Colonial Era tavern in VA has a female ghost who is routinely seen by staff/guests. - The tavern/guesthouse has become the “IN place” to stay in that city.
