U.S. court dismisses New York nurses case against Montefiore for COVID-19 protection

(Reuters) - A Manhattan federal judge on Friday dismissed a nurse association’s lawsuit against a New York City hospital for allegedly failing to provide safety equipment and adopt measures to stop the spread of COVID-19....

...U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan on Friday granted Montefiore’s motion to dismiss the case, saying he lacked authority to address the nurses’ concerns.

...The judge said the parties were “in a better position than either the Court or an arbitrator to find the best ways to achieve that goal despite limited resources and ever-changing circumstances.”
“Both sides presumably share the ultimate goal of maximizing protections...

the most important part of the below article is the message conveyed by the first four words of the title:

Imported by the rich, coronavirus now devastating Brazil’s poor

RIO DE JANEIRO/SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Imported by the Brazilian elite vacationing in Europe, the new coronavirus is now ravaging the country’s poor, ripping through tightly-packed neighborhoods where the disease is harder to control. …

[however, over behind the curtain..]

Residents in Brasilandia, a poor district at the north end of Sao Paulo with the highest coronavirus death toll in the city, told Reuters that bars were still crowded and open-air dance parties attracted thousands of revelers on the weekends. …

...William de Oliveira, a community leader in Rio’s poor hillside neighborhood of Rocinha, can rattle off the names of several friends killed by the virus. Yet it was clear on Wednesday that life continued more or less as usual, with shops and bars bustling,

Well North Korea just shot up a guard post. So attacking the South seems next. Why not. His malnourished people are dying by the 10,000’s no doubt.

The only reason they are saying it can reside in your body for months, is due to the fact that we have only seen infections for months. Lol.

Yeah. Those are steps in the right direction. But worse case is we have an airborne and partially aerosolized disease that enters the lungs, presents as pneumonia, then enters the blood stream to infect the inner blood vessels causing clotting. The old ways wont work anymore. This was never supposed to happen, just like an entire reactor core would never melt down and the Titanic was unsinkable. No intervention from God was required. Only the hubris of man as he ate the forbidden apples.

Good to know. Mostly construction workers at the two new units. No need to panic. Have they tested anyone at the operational plant yet ?

From experience the other day, I can only say to try to tie both ties round your head, if you already don’t know. Tying the lower one round my neck seemed to leave it just a bit loose.

No one cares what the CDC says anymore. Excess deaths have EXCEEDED reported Covid19 deaths.

Funny, in a dark way. But it might be a very long time before those at the highest risk can get back to normal. Nursing homes are already “a place to die”, but assisted living and senior living apartments, where everyone is in their 70’s or 80’s and beyond, but still active both socially and physically, will be quarantined until the threat is minimized. Many will go bankrupt as no one wants to live that way.

Ruh-roh. There must be weird shenanigans going on in NK, with Kim’s disappearance and all. I was expecting a little longer time frame between the pains. But Wow, they’re really getting closer now, if this turns into something serious. Maybe it’s just minor border incident. Thanks for the heads up!

Evolving picture of COVID-19 doesn’t mean virus itself is changing, says doctor

The shifting picture of how COVID-19 affects the body doesn’t necessarily mean the disease itself is changing, according to an infectious disease specialist.
Dr. Matthew Oughton said it’s more likely that a “massive surge of cases” is highlighting a wide range of health impacts...

...Oughton said it’s not unusual for doctors to deal with evolving information, and learn on the job like this.
“If you’re doing this job correctly and doing this job well, you’re always learning as you go, refining your personal data set, using that to become a better clinician, a better diagnostician,” he said...

...”We’re learning more about this, we’re constantly refining,” he told Galloway. He added that he hasn’t seen such a global level of co-operation before.

That’s why we get back to normal gradually, as I have said on here consistently.

OKLAHOMA - seriously?

INTIMIDATION’ Mayor scraps rule that shoppers must wear a virus masks in stores after employees were verbally abused and threatened

“Many of those with objections cite the mistaken belief the requirement is unconstitutional, and under their theory, one cannot be forced to wear a mask.

“No law or court supports this view. In fact, a recent Federal lawsuit against Guthrie’s face covering order was fully dismissed by the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.”
The emergency order was revised less than 24 hours after being initiated.
“The City of Stillwater has attempted to keep people safe by the simple requirement to wear a face covering to protect others,” he added.
“It is unfortunate and distressing that those who refuse and threaten violence are so self-absorbed as to not follow what is a simple show of respect and kindness to others.
