Factbox: Ireland’s plan to gradually ease coronavirus lockdown
Phase One - elderly can poke their heads out their windows for some fresh air. Open-air occupations may return to work
Phase two - open small businesses w/social distancing. Open libraries. Elderly can poke their heads out their windows.
Phase three - Open non-essential businesses/restaurants w/social distancing. Return to work. Elderly can still poke their heads out their windows.
Phase four - sports, motels, daycares, museums. No mention of elderly people. Did anyone ask about them?
Phase five - close contact sports/ international vacations, return to work and back to school all levels. Did anyone feed the elderly people?
Funny, in a dark way. But it might be a very long time before those at the highest risk can get back to normal. Nursing homes are already “a place to die”, but assisted living and senior living apartments, where everyone is in their 70’s or 80’s and beyond, but still active both socially and physically, will be quarantined until the threat is minimized. Many will go bankrupt as no one wants to live that way.
Evolving picture of COVID-19 doesn’t mean virus itself is changing, says doctor
The shifting picture of how COVID-19 affects the body doesn’t necessarily mean the disease itself is changing, according to an infectious disease specialist.
Dr. Matthew Oughton said it’s more likely that a “massive surge of cases” is highlighting a wide range of health impacts...
...Oughton said it’s not unusual for doctors to deal with evolving information, and learn on the job like this.
“If you’re doing this job correctly and doing this job well, you’re always learning as you go, refining your personal data set, using that to become a better clinician, a better diagnostician,” he said...
...”We’re learning more about this, we’re constantly refining,” he told Galloway. He added that he hasn’t seen such a global level of co-operation before.
