The results of Dr. Zelenko's study involving 1450 patients will soon be published in a top journal. Out of the 1450 patients, 405 were given the drug combo of zinc, hydroxychloroquine, and azithromycin. The results were much better than what was statistically expected.
No different than when Penicillin came about...and was used for just about any germ you had.

Dr. Zelenko deserves the respect and gratitude of the American people. He has acted in the best clinical tradition of American medicine. Confronted with a horrible, virulent disease for which little was known or available as treatment, he nevertheless used his clinical knowledge, skill, imagination and courage to care for those who came to him for help. He did not say “stay away, there is nothing that can be done. Can’t treat you since the FDA has not approved and the treatments if they fail can lead to professional sanctions or medical malpractice litigation”. He has been an inspiration and has helped people he will never meet.

I still do not know whether or not Dr. Zelenko administered COVID-19 tests before starting his HCQ+AZ+Zn treatments. In the Brazilian study above, that was not done. Here are the study's inclusion criteria:
Patient over 18 years old and flu-like persistent symptoms > 3 days, with a probable diagnosis of COVID-19 and no immediate indication for hospitalization.
The below is from the Brazilian study's abstract:
Results: Of the 636 symptomatic outpatients, 412 started treatment with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin and 224 refused medications (control group). Need for hospitalization was 1.9% in the treatment group and 5.4% in the control group (2.8 times greater) and number needed to treat was 28 (NNT = 28). In those who started treatment before versus after the seventh day of symptoms, the need for hospitalization was 1.17% and 3.2%, respectively.

I really hope this guy is squaring with us. I have no doubt that he is being honest with his cure rates.
But I read somewhere that his test subjects only showed symptoms of the Coronavirus but were not actually tested for it.
Could be true. Maybe not. I really don’t know.
Most probably his patients did not have definitive COVID-19 testing done or results in hand when he started treating them. As a good clinician, he knew that if a patient presented with high fever and cough, he made the diagnosis without a test result, before shortness of breath and pneumonitis developed and began treatment.. This turns out to be the most effective approach. His paper no doubt will be criticized for not having a confirmatory test since in the mind of the reviewers they cannot be certain he was truly treating COVID-19. His patients will have no such doubts.
