A North Dallas salon owner says come Friday, she is opening for business.
This, despite state and county orders in place ordering hair and nail salons along with barbershops to remain closed to in-person services.
Salon A La Mode on Belt Line Road is set to reopen Friday morning.
**SNIP**
Despite Dallas County and state orders, Luther is opting to open her salon of three years to the 19 tenants who rent space from her, if they would like to come in and work, and to willing clients.
We have some ladies that have been getting their hair done by these hairstylists for over 30 years. Its a big deal for them to look nice and look presentable, she said. Its got to be very, very depressing for them to not be able to get out of the house at all when theyre feeling ok, theyre not sick. They just want to look nice.

Im not sure why. I spent almost a decade of my life operating on AIDS and Hepatitis infected patients all the time and I never contracted either. If we can figure out a way to operate on people who are infected without getting sick I cant imagine why we cant figure out how to cut their hair.
Considering that if my hair gets much longer Im going to have to consider a man bun, Id say barbershops and salons are getting pretty darned essential.
Good for this gal.
If I lived anywhere near Dallas, and if I were a woman, I’d be there to get my hair done.
My hairdresser uses sterilized implements as do barbers. Throw away plastic tablecloths from a Dollar store, gloves and mask and you should be good to go.
Yeah, nevermind that "One Foot Away, Breathing On Each Other" factor.
Go ahead, Pardner!

President Trump tells the press he ‘strongly disagrees with her doing this’...
The question will be,”How many of her 19 clients will return? Most if not all have gone to a home/mobile business.
I have continued to get my hair and nails done during this shut down. My ladies moved it to their homes and I’m fine with that. Saves them “booth” rental and it’s closer to my home. I imagine that they will go back to the salon when it opens, which here in IN is May 1st I think. I personally think the entire thing has been blown way out of proportion. I’ve kept working, but doing due diligence with hand washing and the like. There are a lot of people that are going to totally spaz out when this is lifted. I can see them coming out of their houses looking like zombies.
