2020 College Football Season Reportedly Could Be Played In Spring 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a stop to major sports with increasing concerns for whether or not the 2020 college football season will start on time. As coaches and college administrators continue to navigate their way through an unprecedented time, there is reportedly talk about moving the upcoming season into 2021.

According to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, one possibility being discussed around the NCAA is playing the season in spring 2021. The idea, which has reportedly been talked about by coaches and administrators, would allow teams more time to prepare for a potential season.

The University of Oklahoma announced Friday that it is suspending in-person activities through July 31. The decision comes at a time when states throughout the country are extending their stay-at-home orders with the COVID-19 pandemic worsening.

Oklahoma’s decision casts further doubt on the college football season starting on time. Coaches have said they would need two months to prepare their players for the season. In the best-case scenario, the Sooners could just start practicing in August, and that would still require the university not further extending its suspension of in-person activities.

Even if the college football season could be moved to spring 2021, the consequences would likely be devastating for colleges across the country. As one coach mentioned, per The Athletic, schools might have to cut down to just football, basketball and four women’s sports due to budgetary restrictions.

The NCAA already canceled March Madness and spring sports, which could cost it more than $400 million in revenue. If the 2020 college football season doesn’t happen, the NCAA could lose billions and hundreds of universities across the country would feel the financial fallout.

How can they even have football season if the college is closed in the Spring for Corona virus? Haha!

Lol

I was a supervisor of a presentations department and an investment Bank. We had two layers of proofreading for any documents that left our department. At least.

Mistakes are so common these days that it’s incredible

The last time I posted an article I seem to remember that the headline was NOT in the preview.

However, since the subject is on the table. Why are so many articles posted with large swaths of the content duplicated paragraphs? This happens all the time to various posters.

It was not a misprint. They are telling everyone they are going to keep this lockdown for the most part.

Remember it was only suppose to be 2 weeks.

I think the Sooners should suspend training, practice and recruiting until, oh let’s see, um, 2121.

I probably wouldn’t go to February games.

And how about the MAC? They already play Thursday night games in November. Brrrrr.

I see it went over your head again. There will not be a college football season this fall. Read between the lines. That is what they are telling us.

I bet you were one of those Freepers that really thought the economy was going to be lockdown for 2 weeks when others were warning you that was the bait.

They are already telling we are never going back to the way it was before.

The problem is we are laying down to this and why they continue to run roughshod over us.

???? Your headline says “Spring 2020” (we are already there)...the article says:
“there is reportedly talk about moving the upcoming season into 2021.” and “Even if the college football season could be moved to spring 2021”.

The headline is in error based on the article. The use of the word "misprint" was being gracious. There isn't time left in the Spring of 2020 and the article specifically mentions moving the season to the Spring of 2021.

If the 2020 NCAA football season is pushed back to spring of 2021, that would impact the real 2021 season. If it’s kicked off in March or April, that would mean a season running into June or July. Or do they play an abrieviated season. What about the bowl games? Are they to be played? Do they play a shortened bowl sked or go right to the national championship? The real 2021 season would kick off the last week of August. Not much time to jump from one campaign to another. Just my .02¢.
