Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is facing a growing backlash against her updated, expanded and extended statewide COVID-19 lockdown order. She issued the new Executive Order on April 9th.
Now, tens of thousands of people have put their names on an online recall petition in an effort to push her out of office. The effort to oppose Governor Whitmer has quickly picked up momentum.
Residents across Michigan are expressing anger at the new order that denies people the right to garden, do home improvements, meet with neighbors, see relatives or even use a second home or cottage they own somewhere else in the state. The order also denies stores the ability to sell a wide variety of items that Whitmer deems “non- essential.” The order even prevents nurseries and garden centers from operating at all, at the most critical time of their annual season. Some small business operators say the governor’s controversial order could mean they will be put out of business.
The petition effort began the day after the governor signed the far-reaching 21-day extension of her stay-at-home order. It was widely expected Whitmer would ease some of the restrictions because much of her state is not seeing widespread COVID-19 infection. Instead, she dug in deeper and issued far stronger measures. The Change.org petition already had 75,000 supporters by Saturday morning…and the numbers were growing fast.

She did? Based on what rule or law? Since she believes the state owns the rivers and lakes next time there is a flood send her a bill for damages.
I have a friend who lives on a lake, newly retired, and he posted his tirade about it yesterday. Apparently they don’t want people gathering at the boat launches is the excuse they’re using! Smh...Governor Shitmer may very well find herself recalled before this is over.
This might be an opportune time to recall several heavy handed governors. Get the ball rolling.
Michigan has a great many outdoors enthusiasts - boating, biking, fishing, hiking, swimming, ORV, hunting, RV, camping.
Michigan’s Governor Gestapo Gretchen banned open burn, too, so they can’t even have a back yard fire in a fire pit or bowl and enjoy their forced-isolation evening.

That’s cool and kind of fun when it’s an on-line petition, and not official. I do it, too. LOL! With official petitions, they verify every signature and address against voter registration databases. At least that’s been my experience. I recall spending two Thanksgiving days doing that in the ‘80s when I was Elections Coordinator. Not fun, but if it means removing libs from office ... TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Per Michigan Law:
- All signatures must be signed in the presence of the circulator.
- Number of Signatures Required: The number of signatures needed to trigger a recall election is 25% of the votes cast in the officer’s district for all candidates for the office of Governor in the last gubernatorial election.
- Signature “Ripeness”: Signatures on a recall petition dated more than 60 days before the filing of the petition are invalid.
“Correct. This is not an official petition that can be used to force a recall. Those require certain language and legal wrangling.”
“However, if 500,000 angry Michiganders sign it, those who have the ability to mount a legal recall campaign can use it as a springboard of intentions.”
“One would think it can also be used in the inevitable lawsuit brought against this hack that she and she alone caused injury and needs to be held personally and corporately liable”

Listen folks. This executive order is a good move. Trying to protect bigfoot and dogmen is a very difficult thing.
Needs to happen in every single locked down state.
