Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is facing a growing backlash against her updated, expanded and extended statewide COVID-19 lockdown order. She issued the new Executive Order on April 9th.
Now, tens of thousands of people have put their names on an online recall petition in an effort to push her out of office. The effort to oppose Governor Whitmer has quickly picked up momentum.
Residents across Michigan are expressing anger at the new order that denies people the right to garden, do home improvements, meet with neighbors, see relatives or even use a second home or cottage they own somewhere else in the state. The order also denies stores the ability to sell a wide variety of items that Whitmer deems “non- essential.” The order even prevents nurseries and garden centers from operating at all, at the most critical time of their annual season. Some small business operators say the governor’s controversial order could mean they will be put out of business.
The petition effort began the day after the governor signed the far-reaching 21-day extension of her stay-at-home order. It was widely expected Whitmer would ease some of the restrictions because much of her state is not seeing widespread COVID-19 infection. Instead, she dug in deeper and issued far stronger measures. The Change.org petition already had 75,000 supporters by Saturday morning…and the numbers were growing fast.

Other than providing the individual hosting the petition with your name and email address which will be used to create a database that will be passed on or sold to other parties, what exactly are you accomplishing?

Correct. This is not an official petition that can be used to force a recall. Those require certain language and legal wrangling.
However, if 500,000 angry Michiganders sign it, those who have the ability to mount a legal recall campaign can use it as a springboard of intentions.
One would think it can also be used in the inevitable lawsuit brought against this hack that she and she alone caused injury and needs to be held personally and corporately liable

And just yesterday, she banned the use of motorized boats on Michigan’s lakes and waterways. Pure Michigan!
By providing that info, all you are doing is adding to an email database that will be either passed on or sold to future political candidates.
A couple months ago I purchased a Trump t-shirt and now I'm getting spammed asking for donations by a republican running for the US senate in Virginia, Nikki Snyder running for US congress in the upper peninsula and a New Yorker running against AOC and a couple of others...Never heard of any of these people and they mean nothing to me.
That's exactly what's going to happen to you once you add your name and email to that list.......
This is not a recall petition, its just a scream. Real petitions are certainly in order. But, this is just posturing.
I’m sure if you scan the names of all the participants you’ll likely see Mickey Mouse, Albert Einstein and a host of others......
And what happens if everyone just continues working? Is she willing to forcibly shut down the entire state? There isn’t enough law enforcement...
