Former Texas Rangers star Josh Hamilton has been indicted on a felony charge of injury to a child after his teenage daughter accused him of beating her.
A Tarrant County grand jury indicted the 38-year-old Hamilton on Monday. He remains free on $30,000 bond after he turned himself in to authorities on Oct. 30. If convicted, he faces a prison sentence of two to 10 years in prison.
Hamilton's attorneys say the Texas Rangers Hall of Famer is innocent of the charge. His 14-year-old daughter told her mother, Hamiltons ex-wife, that her father struck her after he became enraged by a comment from her.
According to an affidavit by a Keller Police Department detective, Hamiltons daughter told police that he went on a rampage Sept. 30. She says she made a comment to Hamilton that upset him, so he threw a full water bottle overhand at her, hitting her in the chest, then cursed and shouted at her.

BTW - my kid accidentally brought home note that had “psychological questions” on the back. Did our home have guns, have your parents ever struck you etc. We parents never gave permission for it. It was a church school too (found out the public school did this also).
Lol!
14 yo daughter, ex-wife, from back in September? Hmmm. I’ll bet they’re willing to drop the charges for $.
As a Nats fan, I am quite thankful he now plays for the Phillies and not the Nats. :-)
People of any age cant push buttons that arent there
This guy sounds like he was in an alcohol fuel rage
Yup
SAME!!!
Well he definitely lost control but for every parent who has had to deal with a sullen smart mouthed teen you know they can bring you to the brink of madness. If this was a one time event maybe anger management and family therapy.

J. Hamilton did have some good batting statistics when he played for Texas Rangers for the first time...
Rangers did put him in its Hall of Fame last year...
Would Rangers take him out of the Hall of Fame if he is convicted of this crime?
Dumb.
That's my thought on what prompted this.
2-10 years for spanking your daughter? Freaking ridiculous.
Do you know of any Texas laws that grants one the legal authority to assault a person simply because the person being assaulted is related to the accused?
Stems from a Capital Murder trial. They botched their investigation and did not participate in the trial.
Neither the prosecution nor the defense wanted their BS testimony.
But all 3 detectives got promoted after the trial.
Lots of hearsay, through an ex-wife, from a 14 y.o. that knows how to push dad's buttons.
Yes, Josh overreacted. But what disrespectful thing did daughter say that pushed his buttons?
In all fairness, Hamilton throwing a bottle and me throwing a bottle of water (12 ozs?) are not the same thing.
Sod off troll.
Whatever, geez. Hes done other things too
what would you want me to call the whole collection of everything?
But what disrespectful thing did daughter say that pushed his buttons?
Thats irrelevant, at least in the eyes of the law.
My immediate thought...the guy has massive alcohol (and drug) issues that overwhelmed his natural ability and talent. He could have had a great career, but the alcohol wiped it out. Its that that gives the daughters story credence.

According to the website below, corporal punishment of a child by a parent is LEGAL in all 50 states as long as the child is not injured.
A Parents Limited Right to Spank
Currently, parents in all states have a limited right to spank their children. Courts have decided that parents have a constitutional right to raise their children as they see fit, including using whatever method of discipline they think is best. Whether by statute or by legal opinion, states permit parents to use physical discipline against their children as long as it is done in moderation and does not cause injury.
