We can get movies from Prime and/or Netflix. Can anyone recommend some really good movies to watch this evening? Could be suspense, adventure, musical? I am one of the worse picker-outers available!
I just posted about a Netflix series called Money Heist. It’s up to season 4 so if you start at the beginning you’ll get a good month’s worth of binge watching out of it.
Daniel Craig completely shatters his Bond image.
Tiny spoiler: "I. Am. In-car-cer-a-ted."
A movie I have running now from a DVD rip is “The Cheap Detective”.
A good parody of old PI movies.
Starring lots of people who are way better than 99% of who is on today.
I’ve almost finished watching both seasons of Time Trax. Good show despite the problems.
Tons of stuff on Roku that I haven’t gotten to.
Any particular era of film? Contemporary? 1970-1990? 1954-1970? 1933-19652? Black and white okay? Foreign language?
Go to Prime and ask Alexia for “Free James Bond movies”. They are running a lot if not most of the old Bond classics.
If you don’t ask for free Bond Movies, the charges can be significant.
If you like westerns. Try Conagher. If you like mysterys try anything from Hitchcock, if you like war movies Run Silent, Run Deep. Comedy? Bringing Up Baby. The series Justified or Blue Bloods. I think old Laugh In and old Johnny Carson are fun. Hell Ive tried not to go too far back, but they are there. Good luck.
Aaron Eckert in I, Frankenstein
At the insistance of my 21-year-old daughter, I finally gave into her demands and started watching “Jane The Virgin,” which is a six-season series on Netflix.
I have to say that I am really hooked on binge watching it now.
I find it very entertaining - some romance, some criminal intrigue, family relationships. It’s funny and dramatic and brilliantly written with lots of plot twists and turns.
I highly recommend it.
Patriot Games (Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan) is on Amazon prime again - had not watched that movie in many years. It is pretty entertaining!
I believe All 4 seasons of Spartacus are on Netflix and it was really good - especially the first two seasons.
They have all the Bond movies on Amazon.
Start with Dr No and go forward from there
One Netflix try The Highwaymen. Excellent film with Kevin Costner about the Texas Rangers who hunted down Bonnie and Clyde. Ive watched it twice since it came out. Also the original Dirty Harry is available on Netflix as well.
If you want a good clean film or want a film for kids that adults can enjoy, I would recommend the movie “Oddball and the Penguins”. No nudity. No guns or explosives. No gay characters. Just a warm hearted story that goes down easy. It’s cute.
Oddball and the Penguins.
If you like and are in the mood for a very off-beat comedy that is entertaining but very way out there, I would recommend “God Bless America”. Really weird movie. You have to have an offbeat sense of humor or like really dark comedies. It is more a risk, since I don’t know your personality type or your taste in movies, but I thought it was a great comed. This is not a general appeal type movie. You have to have a twisted sense of humor for this one.
I went old school western and watched McClintock on Prime. A little John Wayne, a little Maureen O’Hara...a hoot.
I’ve subscribed to Nexflix’s DVD service for over 10 years. Here’s my list of favs:
