Its just the flu, bro.
More people are discussing herd immunity as an end game...apparently U.K. wanted to try it but then a modeler told them their hospitals would be over run. The overrunning of hospitals has not been happening there (or here) so they may be taking a second look at it. Its simple - open up the country but the old and those with serious heart, lung and diabetic conditions should voluntarily social distance.
The factors that makes herd immunity a good concept for this virus - its not that lethal (just the flu, bro) and it spreads quickly. This means the social distancing for the vulnerable will be short and we can all get back to normal activities.
25 days until the end of this month is too long to keep businesses shut down!
Freepmail me to get pinged. I have already had Fearpers try and trick me and join a ping list so please use our mantra in the freepmail so I know you are legitimate. A ping list will help deflect the wave of Fearpers that come here everyday.
Who would you choose to administer CV to these kids, what age group is appropriate for infection and what method of virus delivery?
How do you know what the census looks like in every hospital?
You dont really understand how spread works, do you?
Historically it’s the only viable, broad swath strategy that’s effective for the greater good unless you can identify the specific pathogen, like smallpox, and can immunize entire populations in short order. Influenza mutates quickly, and like happened a couple of years ago, the vaccine that was provided was only 15 percent effective, because the strain had shifted by the time the vaccine went to market.
They will naturally get infected by stopping social distancing.
Re: 57 - good post - thanks.
She said they are open, starting to make it this week and hope to ship by middle of April.
This will not end until herd immunity is reached...period.
Truth.
I bet Mentone is pretty empty right now. Kind of like ten years ago.
Those masks were worthless. Would barely stop pollen.
Ah. Thank you.
It is to be hoped that will suffice, and that the HCQ stock from Teva in Israel is in the supply line now. I am unsure if this is soon enough.
In order to get prophylactic doses to frontline personnel - EMTs, Law Enforcement, Truck drivers and stockers, nursing home caretakers, grocery stockers - as well as to new patients immediately, the HCQ stock being shipped also needs to be protected and to get to the places needed in the correct amounts extremely soon.
I do not have any of these numbers at this time. I wonder how many doses our Armed Forces have available.
What are the side effects of this medication that could cause problems?
If you want the big brother world of context tracing and denial of rights without due process feel free to move to a country that controls its citizens. Keep you hands of my rights.
A herd immunity concept without a full understanding of how this new virus conveys natural immunity isn’t a preventative measure. It’s insane. Also, if government “let it rip” in an effort to acquire herd immunity, and using 80% of the population as the benchmark, app 2.5 million people would die from this CV. That number is far, far greater than current estimates.
3769 cases out of 11,690,000 population.
3 thousandth of 1%?
Before, deWhine said the peak would be end of March to first of April. Then the peak would be middle of April....now middle June according to best estimates of Ohio authorities.
First the shutdown was to just spread out the peak. Now deWhine says the shutdown will stay in place until there are no more cases!
At this rate the shutdown could possibly NEVER end.
Mentone and Orla both were thriving metropolises until the bottom fell out of the awl bidness. The population might have hit 10 or 11 if you add both places.
Herd immunity for this virus needs a 60 to 80 percent infection rate. Pick your death rate and compute.
Wrong...most say 60% needed for herd. Also the death rate is extremely low for people under 70 and with no medical issues - well under 0.1% IMO. But you will reject my number until you agree there are a large number of asymptomatic people.
“Kids arent really affected by Corona.” (virus)
Was near a Taco Bell yesterday. Saw a dark young worker come out the back door and talk to another guy that came out of a truck.
They ended with a bro shake and a bro hug. Worker went back inside.
I believe most of our youts dont give a crap about covid19 prevention. Aint gonna hurt me. And maybe get me some of grandpas money.
“OK Bye Boomer!”
My wife and I stopped at Orla on our way to the Guadalupe’s back in the 80’s. She said the bathroom was the nastiest she had ever been in. I just went over behind a pump jack.
