MLB players union has been discussing a handful of potential neutral stadiums that could host baseball games to restart the 2020 season, New York Yankees pitcher Zack Britton said Wednesday.
Britton told MLB Network Radio that about five sites have been talked about in meetings about potentially getting the season back up and running. The season was suspended and Opening Day was delayed because of the coronavirus outbreak.
MLB PLAYERS UNION CONSIDERS PLAYING GAMES WITH NO FANS TO START SEASON, ANGELS PITCHER SAYS
I know there's sites that have already been discussed -- I'm not sure if I should even say this publicly -- but there's four or five sites that are up in the air that MLB and the union have slightly discussed that these are spots that have the resources, facilities, hotels that could host a major-league team if we get to that point, Britton said in the interview.

From what I've been hearing over the sports radio airwaves, the TV networks are pushing hard for this sort of arrangement because their losses are staggering for each canceled game.
I'm kind of surprised MLB is taking the lead on this. This morning I was convinced the NBA would come out with this kind of plan first.

If they can pull it off it’s a great idea. Sports is a haven. Honestly what I’d do is pick someplace out of the way with multiple fields, like one of their spring training areas. Get all the teams there, quarantine them in hotels. And play the schedule. If you can get 8 fields you can easily run a full day’s schedule in day and evening slots, with time for sanitizing the dugouts. Get the game on.

It won’t change the reception the Astros are going to get.

Go to the spring training sites. They are all in the sun belt away from the northern tier inner city pestholes.
Yuma has a wonderful stadium complex that used to be where the Padres did spring training.

Thats not going to give them a seasons worth of revenue.
In any event, cancelling the whole season would fall under force majeure.

Definitely a great idea. Something to watch while we are quarantined. Their viewership will soar

Well dont come to Warren, Michigan. The parks and rec kicked out 6 old guys yesterday who were simply taking softball batting practice on one of their fields...
The City of Pittsburgh went around and took down the basketball hoops in all of the parks.

Shared sports apparatus, pitcher ball rub downs, dugouts, player manager conferencing, manager-pitcher on the mound, umpire plate proximity for starters

Test everybody as you’re setting it all up. Teams are clean going into quarantine they’ll stay clean. No need to worry about proximity.

How about no announcers too.
Yankee announcers Michael Kay and Ken Singleton are the best in the business.
