Hundreds of people flouted Louisiana's COVID-19 ban on gatherings, coming on buses and in personal vehicles to the first of three Sunday services at their church as the governor warns that the state's healthcare system will be overwhelmed. An estimated 500 people of all ages filed inside the mustard-yellow and beige Life Tabernacle church in Central, a city of nearly 29,000 outside Baton Rouge. The church's pastor, Tony Spell, defied an order from Gov John Bel Edwards who banned mass gatherings in the state where more than 3,500 Louisiana residents have been diagnosed with the disease caused by the coronavirus, and 151 people have died, according to figures released Sunday. Edwards repeated on Sunday's national news talk shows what he's been saying for days: the state's hospitals may become overwhelmed due to rise in cases in New Orleans.

why dont you go ask him if someone can continue to shed the virus for 8 days longer than initially thought
Greetings fellow Christians ... the weather is improving. I say it’s time for some good old fashion tent revivals. Outdoors with plenty of fresh air and space.
Hey, they just had an outdoor event in the Rose Garden yesterday. It must be ok to somewhat gather outside?
Better yet, post your medical credentials since you know more than an ICU
Intensivist working in NYC.
Its a bad situation, but you get a certain amount of joy in pumping in more bad news.
And he had the choice to say “we really shouldn’t be gathering until this has blown over”.
Why dont you tell me how long he said the person would shed the virus....because I posted an expert in lungs from YALE.
Lets heare how long. Exact amount of days since you are refuting the EXPERT from Yale.
I am thinking these mega-churches are doing this for the money.
= = =
Duh
You did not even need a Word of Knowledge or Word of Wisdom, or Prophesy.
Easily explained by Love of Money.
Same doctor states that viral shedding continued after resolution.
However, you stated that people recovering continued to have medical issues.
In other words, youve moved the goalposts to keep the gloom and doom at fever pitch.
oh just stop lying.
I posted an article about how the virus continues to shed....and you tried to counter with some expert...EXCEPT..
HE SAID THE SAME THING
Bible says obey the Authorities.
Who/what is that?
The Constitution, and the Law.
Not just some power-mad mayor.
And, ponder this . . .
When Caesar was seeking Christians to kill, did they gather in groups to be fodder?
Or did they hide out in the catacombs?
Maybe staying home is like that.
“Please Lord, save me, I beseech you.”
God will lay hands on them, lean over and whisper in their ear...
“The next time I send you an official quarantine, maybe you will abide by the rules.”
Never let the state decide whether you can worship God. Never.
—
They could have worshipped God from the safety of their own homes.
No. The assembly of the physical church is a clear command from scripture.
If you go with your argument then the state could ban our physical assembling forever with no 1st amendment right ever. Cause we can just worship from home.
We are not a Sims. The physical preaching of the Word in real time with all the accompanying communication NOT captured on a screen. The reaction and physical presence of other believers. The actual full communication between us. Baptism. Communion. Corporate prayer. Fellowship. NOT reproducible online and NOT the limit of our right to worship.
We MET in the catacombs on pain of death.
We did not just exchange letters or pray with our families at home. It is NOT the same thing.
I know we are to not forsake the fellowship of believers, but I don’t think staying home at the request of government, just during a health crisis, counts. Of course, each believer must decide for himself, but we are to use wisdom, and it’s not as if we cannot worship the LORD at home. Or even meet in (very) small groups, in church members’ homes. We are in the midst of starting up a new congregation, so we meet in our pastor’s home. But there are less than 10 of us, and none of us would think of attending if we had symptoms.
First of all, the state CAN restrict people from gathering together during an emergency. This is a good thing. It stops idiots from getting together and giving each other a potentially deadly disease.
You are so right! Check out Hillsong, Elevation Church, Passion City Church, and the real nutcases, Bethel Church in California. And the megachurch “pastor” who was just arrested in Florida said he had “cursed away” the Zika virus and would do the same for COVID-19. His congregation throws fits, rolls in the aisles, barks like a dog, and are overcome with “holy laughter.”
These “churches” are usually non-denominational Pentecostal/Charismatic/Prosperity Gospel/Word-Faith megachurches with husband/wife senior “pastors” who are raking in the dough. Frauds and grifters.
Hillsong Church, an Australian version, just held one of their massive international conferences that feature a rock band and tens of thousands of people gathering in big stadiums to lift their hands and swoon to the music as they hand over the money. The Australian government allowed it to happen over a weekend and then shut down large gatherings the very next Monday. The prime minister gets big donations from Hillsong and attends their “worship” services.
Sure, blame the Churches. That easy to do. We are closing in to doomsday. Not a church goer myself anymore, but the govt is heading down a bad path.
Sure he can. But the choice comes down to the followers to think for themselves and say “ may be this aint a good idea”.
If Trump said “ I have a stadium for us to rally tomorrow at 8 pm” ...would you blame Trump? Show up if you want or not. It’s always up to the individual to CHOOSE.
When your job is being a leader, you gotta lead smart. He is their Pastor. He’s supposed to give them good guidance. That is their assumption, that’s why they choose to worship with him. He made a bad choice, he made it first, and the people who follow him... well they followed him.
Yes actually I would blame Trump in your hypothetical. For the exact same reason. His job is to be a leader. He’s supposed to give good guidance. He’s supposed to make the good decision FIRST.
Now they can blame churches (Christians) instead of all the drunks and what not at Mardi gras.
