There is an article in the Financial Times saying that a medical researcher/statistician at Oxford believes that half of the UK's population has already had the virus. Several people disagreed with his study, but it is intriguing.
I suspect that I and several members of my family may have had the Wuhan virus in February. We assumed we had the flu, but the symptoms were not like typical flu symptoms. The cough was the worst.
If you think you may have had the virus, but didn't realize it at the time, please comment about your experience. Some think this virus was circulating in the US as early as last October.
If a whole bunch of people already had this virus and recovered, perhaps we can get back to normal much sooner than we thought.

“I had fever that would go on and off for a week...”
Sounds like malaria.
If this was under Obama, none of this sh*t (reaction and crisis pushing whores) would be happening for better or worse.
Not even the most batshit crazy anti-Trump leftist believes China Governments’ coronavirus case numbers, but now China is telling us they have found patient zero in the Wuhan wet-market and they day that person was infected - and we are supposed to simply accept that?
This virus could have been circulating for many months. How would anyone know otherwise? Mass testing for coronavirus isnt even happening yet in the West, and there are no widely available antibody tests yet to find people who were infected, but now cured.
Like you, I had a very different type of flu/illness in early February that matched all the coronavirus symptoms. I would love to take an antibody test to know for sure.
It’s like people never knew flu existed before Wuhan’s version. Influenza B/Victoria strain ripped through the US in November then again in late December/early January. Strep went racing through in early February. I’m sure the UK had similar incidents.
(Yep, was tested for influenza and spent Christmas laid out recovering.)
I don’t think I had that. It’s been three years, and no repercussions.
Nephew a thoracic surgeon, fiancee an anesthesiologist.......
Two thoughts. First, There are many areas in our country with no or very few confirmed cases of Coronavirus. This would lead me to think that there are not too many folks in those areas who have had it and recovered.
Second, I understand that the majority of people with flu-like symptoms who have been tested for Coronavirus are negative. So, if that is true, thinking you or someone you know had it earlier this year and recovered may be accurate but is probably wishful thinking.
Hopefully, they will start testing for antibodies soon and well know either way.
Im waiting for the end of the world and the expected concurrent arrival of zombies.
For about three weeks from late October to early November, I had an extraordinarily bad flu, with extreme fatigue. Not normal. I do not have O type blood, but an older person in the house who does have O type blood, did not get it. There is significant Chinese and Japanese tourism here. I believe that it was milder than it would have been, as I take a homemade electrolyte drink 4x/day during colds consisting of 3g Ascorbic acid, 1/8 t magnesium oxide, 2T apple cider vinegar, 1t MSM, 16 oz distilled water. Stevia to sweeten and Baking soda to neutralize. I believe I was adding NAC 500 mg for lung protection to the mix as I had it in the house, but my memory is somewhat hazy upon that point.
Then we’ll be seeing a reduction in cases soon.

I will be starting my own agency. Are you with me?
just curious...do you remember in the past when you got the flu before Wuhan existed if the Type O would also get it?
btw, do you have type A?
I got the flu so bad a couple years ago I was writing out a will!
Might have been the cytokine storm issue.
Since you know you have had an issue in the past it might be something to watch with this one if you get sick.
Mid January roughly - the worst cough of my life. Uncontrollable and kept me up all night. Cough wasn’t bringing anything up from my lungs. At time so bad I vomited.
Some fever dreams as well, some body aches, stuffiness but mostly that nightmare of a cough. Friend had it as well but I don’t think he got it from me. He also had a lot of nasal problems with the cough. This gentleman is 85, former marine and firefighter - very fit. Has always eaten the right foods, exercised etc.
I had been working with mass transit at the airport most of my shifts interacting with hundreds of people. Many of whom had just arrived in the US.
My daughter had the same just 2 weeks after visiting San Francisco....but in September.
They did a ton of tests, to include a spinal tap, and couldnt find anything wrong with her.
At the end of January I had to take my husband to the E.R. He had a fever was so tired and had a cough that made it hard for him to get a breath. They did a flu test ,strep and the both came back negative. His oxygen level was low and they had him do breathing treatments to get it back up. His chest xray came back showing a spot on his lung. The Dr said whatever he had was viral .He was sent home with spack ventolin and a cough medicine. It took a month for him to get better.I got the same thing a week later as did our daughter and two grandkids. Whatever it was left you short of breath with a horrible cough and so tired.
We have no current test to look for antibodies
Could be true. Could be wishful
Actually I believe we do.
