I dunno. Somewhere around the first threads on this, I was like, eh, their problem, doesn’t affect me. The smuggled videos caught my interest, and the whodunit element, but even with airlift folks 5 miles from me I was pretty nonchalant. And that was reading FR and other sources. By Feb 14th, airlifts were parolled, and when we noticed the shortage in masks and sanitizer around here. But we were thinking masks more for weed wacking and the upcoming fire season. Once they announced person to person is when we perked up and topped off the tanks and hay. So we were only about 2 weeks ahead of the Costco swarmers.

My son had 4 open heart surgeries to correct a sub-aortic stenosis. In the process, he require an artificial mitral valve, an artificial aortic valve, a band around the tricuspid and a "pig patch". The mitral valve put pressure on the "bundle of His" requiring installation of a two lead pacemaker. After the mitral valve was installed, a daily dose of Coumadin was required and regular checks of his PT were performed by his cardiologist.

Roll forward to May 2012. My son went to the dentist. During that visit, someone in the office infected him with something that developed into bronchitis. My wife took him to an Urgent Care where the PA prescribed Z-Pak. It was a Saturday evening and his regular doctor was unavailable. On Monday a follow-up with his regular doctor occurred. He had taking the 5th of 5 Z-Pak tablets. Hit PT was checked. It was 8.5+. Normal is about 2.5. The doctor said to stop taking Coumadin immediately. He went home with my wife. At 10:30 PM she was leaving for her dispatch shift 11 PM to 7 AM. She asked how he was doing. The answer was "so so".

My wife got off at 7 AM and took our middle son down to the car repair shop to pick up his car. She walked into the house at 8:20 AM. As was her habit, she checked in to make sure my oldest son was OK. He wasn't. He was quite dead. I'll spare the icky details. She called me immediately...except my phone was muted. I was in a training class in San Diego. I drove home to Idaho as soon as I could get back to my vehicle.

My wife dealt with the coroner as I drove the 925 miles home. I checked his computer. The browser history showed a retrieval of a link to an Ocarina store at 1:19 AM. It was the last thing he did.

I immediately did some research and discovered that Vanderbilt University has issued a study about 238 deaths from use of azithromycin. The cause was attributed to extended QT and sudden cardiac death. It was a poor choice of antibiotics for my son, but the study was issued until 5 hours after his death.

Wore the mask for the first time tonight. Had to make an ATM run. Takes awhile to get used too and I did have some difficulty at first. Thought this is gonna be a pain, but once I figured out a way to breath, it felt good. Kinda had to break my mask virginity. Lol. But I was on a pedal bike and doing physical activity.

oD we trust Japan’s numbers, tho? Could they have held them low in fear of losing the Olympics? There was an article yesterday warning of an ‘explosion’ of cases in Japan - but one wonders, if they’ve shut down travel from tourists, how could that be?

Yep...these threads had MANY of us warned and prepped, thankfully, way ahead of the curve.

Another amazing thing, I’ve noticed...is how so much of the info we’ve read about, here, on these threads is just now getting out to the other forum threads. Folks are finally catching up to some of the protocols, studies, practices, etc., that we’ve known about...from reading right here, for some time.

Glad they’re waking up...but, what a treasure trove of info these threads have been, from day one. Back when it was just a strange virus from China, coming to the world’s attention.

I actually went back, a few weeks ago, and looked at some of the early threads.

Amazing to watch it all happening and unrolling...knowing (from studying) what was heading our own way.

Yeah, unfortunately this virus made fools of a lot of people. Well not you and me - we saw what was coming.

The problem was so many leaders listened to the BS from the WHO and the CDC. So did Trump.

Thank God Trump soon saw the fallacies in the CDC and immediately fixed it. But that took precious time.

Anyone trying to blame Trump for something that was going to be obviously bad will in the log haul lose credibility and hopefully, their next election.

I ordered surgical masks at the same time I ordered N95 masks. I’m still waiting for the surgical masks to arrive.

All nursing homes should be CLOSED!!!!

Just like mental institutions...old people should die on the street!

After you flunatics are done, that is exactly what will happen since nobody will be able to afford the liability of being in the business of caring for old people.

How often does a nursing home get hit with a flu or communicable cold? Probably all the damn time. But only now does anyone care.

You’re welcome :)

not just Italy. China has their one-way-road claws into South America, too, which could explain why leaders like Bolsonaro are publically nonchalant about Covid19 - wouldn’t want to offend the Chi-coms traveling to and from ‘science’ projects :

That law affects truckers and so many other occupations. I don’t know how the conservative Californians maintain their sanity.

I’m not sure how other states are doing it, and I hope they all are, but Calif has waived the usual one-week waiting period for unemployment ins. Sign up online, get a check on cycle. Ask questions later. That plus the rebate, payment, stimulus whatever we’re calling the insta-money, should get most folks thru. I think if we all hunker down, we can avert or highly minimize a second wave, and deal with sporadic outbreaks as they occur, while people get back to work.

There’s also something about small businesses having to go thru their local banks for special loans, that may be forgiven if the employer doesn’t lay off his people at all - he uses the loan to keep paying them and keep the rent paid (but I haven’t looked into that yet). If the boss doesn’t know about it, make sure he does.

I think you’re overguesstimating.

Take a look at these charts. We seem to be in the lower 1/3 of projections. Does that affect your guesstimation?

Especially with money in the mail.

There's a bad assumption. Lots of people aren't getting money in the mail. I'm one of them and my current contract runs out of money on April 17th. I'm getting a layoff notice on April 3rd as a "courtesy" two week notice. That's loyalty for putting in 70 hour weeks to rescue a project (for 40 hours pay...salaried, of course).

So, have 1 million Californians died yet from this flu thing? We was promised?

I thought 4000 per day was your estimates by now? What’s the hold up?

This thing isn’t as deadly as a Ford Explorer with Firestone tires yet!
