Just as it was in Wuhan.
When he runs out of places to store the bodies, it might start hitting home.
Now how are the Flubros going to continue to claim there is no problem in NY when their POTUS is considering doing a quarantine.
It makes no sense.
I notice the figures for NY State are by county, but New York City is five counties and they are all listed together under New York City. I think probably better to list
New York County
Kings County (Brooklyn)
Queens County
Bronx County
Richmond County (Staten Island)
to make them better comparable to the rest o the list.
“COVID-19: mitigating transmission via wastewater plumbing systems”
“By its very design, the wastewater plumbing system is a harbinger of pathogenic microorganisms with, under some circumstances, the potential to enable airborne transmission of viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).”
. . .
“We recommend the following steps be taken to ensure that transmission through the wastewater plumbing system is minimised: (1) do not ignore unexplained foul smells in bathrooms, kitchens, or wash areas; (2) make sure that all water appliances in bathrooms and kitchens are fitted with a functioning U-bend; (3) to prevent the loss of the water trap seal within a U-bend, open a tap on all water appliances for at least 5 s twice a day (morning and evening) paying special attention to floor drains in bathrooms and wet rooms; (4) if the wastewater pipework from an appliance appears to be disconnected or open, seal it immediately (ie, use an elastic rubber glove to cover the end; a plastic bag and some tape will suffice, ensuring the bag has no holes); (5) if there appears to be any crack or leak in pipework, seal with tape or glue; and (6) continuously monitor
whole system performance (for large or tall buildings). The potential for a substantial viral load within the wastewater plumbing system (and therefore the main sewer system), in combination with the potential for airborne transmission due to aerosolisation of the virus, calls for wastewater plumbing systems to be considered as a potential transmission pathway for COVID-19. The interconnectedness of the wastewater plumbing network can facilitate exposure to SARS-CoV-2 within, or even between, buildings. This is of particular concern in high- risk transmission settings such as hospitals and health-care buildings. Following the recommendations set out above will help to minimise the risk of transmission.”

i think trump could finesse almost all of any ill will by asking new orkers for a voluntary quarantine, at least until the media show pig headed selfish new yorker quarantine scoffers on tv news broadcasts.
dont bother to ask cuomo, just implement it over thae state line(s).
i expect upstate new yorkers and even most nyc folk will rally with trmp no matter what...

Thank you, LilFarmer.
How would you even go about quarantining NYC?
And, from your link, POTUS says it would be for a ‘short time, only’ and, that he ‘would not shut down the NYC subway’.
How would this even do anyting?
Depends on whose strategy.
If your idea is to get some of the soon to be in the ICU infected to move into OTHER areas and tax THEIR hospital systems...it’s pure genius.
I thought that was why we have fast attack subs.
Bkmk
That’s a great story!
From your link....
Gunnison, a farming and mining town of about 1,300 people, had special reason to fear. Two railroads connected it to Denver and other population centers, many badly hit. The flu is after us the Gunnison News-Champion warned on 10 October. It is circulating in almost every village and community around us.
What happened next is instructive amid a new global health emergency a century later as the world struggles react to the emergence of a new coronavirus. Gunnison declared a quarantine against all the world. It erected barricades, sequestered visitors, arrested violators, closed schools and churches and banned parties and street gatherings, a de facto lockdown that lasted four months.
It worked. Gunnison emerged from the pandemics first two waves by far the deadliest - without a single case. It was one of a handful of so-called escape communities that researchers have analysed for insights into containing the apparently uncontainable.
Gunnisons management of the influenza situation, one hallmarked by the application of protective sequestration, is particularly impressive when one considers that nearly every nearby town and county was severely affected by the pandemic, the University of Michigan Medical School said in a 2006 report for the Pentagons Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The town of Gunnison was exceptional.
1:32 PM PT — As you can see from the pic below, with all the people squeezing into a small space, it’s not surprising others became infected with coronavirus. We’ve learned a doctor and 4 of his friends who attended the white party tested positive, as did others, including a Toronto man who said he’s never felt worse in his life, saying with regret, he went so he wouldn’t lose all the money he put down for the trip, plus ... “I’d been needing a vacation so I said, Let’s go.” 10 days later he became ill.

The Brazil president probably has it. Just not testing positive yet. One of the early symptoms is mental deficiencies.
I think the conspiracy theorists may be some of the folks who get on a cruise on March 7.
In the zerohedge article it said they kept using the gym even after the first cases were publicly announced on board.
They just don’t believe the virus thing is real—and nobody is going to convince them it is.
If he shuts down the subway completely, essential workers won’t be able to get to work.
If he keeps it at the fewer trains per day, where it is now, it is going to continue to be dangerously crowded.
If he makes it more frequent, there will not be enough trained workers to run the trains, as many of them are ill. These workers go to a special high school to learn their skills and are not easily replaced by others.
It seemed so wonderful a thing for so many years, but now we have a snake around our neck.
Hmmm...
Sounds like wastewat6er systems could be tested to provide usable info on infections. Both location and severity.
That’s info we are having a hard time getting now.
We thought the Flu Bros would get it that day when Trump announced “It’s bad”.
That just seemed to get them angrier!
