How would you even go about quarantining NYC?
And, from your link, POTUS says it would be for a ‘short time, only’ and, that he ‘would not shut down the NYC subway’.
How would this even do anyting?
If he shuts down the subway completely, essential workers won’t be able to get to work.
If he keeps it at the fewer trains per day, where it is now, it is going to continue to be dangerously crowded.
If he makes it more frequent, there will not be enough trained workers to run the trains, as many of them are ill. These workers go to a special high school to learn their skills and are not easily replaced by others.
It seemed so wonderful a thing for so many years, but now we have a snake around our neck.
I have an idea on the subway. All essential workers get passes. Nobody gets on the subway without a pass. This will keep the joyriders off and the link going.
The weakest link in NYC is the projects. The door-ed and middle class apts are taking care of their buildings re: clean elevators, mopping/spraying with disinfectant, etc. So they’re good to go.
Who’s doing the same in the projects/low income apt elevators? Do they have disinfectants to clean their apts? What can we do to help them? These are high-risk because of the nutrition-related chronic conditions in low-income areas. What’s being done right now? Do they have people on this?
All the bridges and tunnels and all the subways could be closed.
Patrol boats could intercept in the harbor using drones as spotters.
NYC could be quarantined.
But it would be ugly.
