The federal government is poised to send checks or make direct deposits to most Americans to help people survive financially in the wake of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The health crisis has evolved into an economic crisis as businesses and schools shut down to slow the spread of the virus.
Based on the CARES act approved by the U.S. Senate late Wednesday, many American would receive a payments of $1,200, and families would see an extra $500 per child they claim as a dependent on their tax returns.
Want to know how much you are projected to receive? Answer four questions below to see an estimate of the stimulus payment you are eligible to receive under the CARES act, which still must be approved by the U.S. House (vote expected Friday) and signed into law by the president. Not sure why folks on social security are getting $1200 stimulus checks when they have been the least disadvantaged economically by the corona crisis. This is an economic crisis for those who have been unemployed from the crisis and businesses and it would seem that money is better served going to those who are going to need it rather than currying favor with different interest groups and the AARP lobby
“Trump is American as anyone else, if hes being barred then they can keep it!”
Once you get it just mail the feds a check. The guvmint needs the revenue. :-)
I don’t have top look. I won’t see a penny. Don’t need it.
I have a child going to college. So more expense.
but no 500 as he is above 16
(for below 16 kids free public school + 500 each)
What about people on social security and disability?
Good news. People on Social Security, retirees and people receiving disability payments are eligible to receive the coronavirus relief payment provided their total income does not exceed the limits given above.
According to the Washington Post, low-income Americans on Social Security do not need to file a tax return. As long as they received an SSA-1099 form (the Social Security benefit statement), the government will send them a payment via the usual way they get their Social Security payment.
Thanks for that info.

self employed can collect unemployment under the plan.
$0.00, to be exact.
FN 5.7 and FN PS90 for me.
Been wanting one of each.
We’ll spend anything we get at local businesses. We’re retired.
Imagine the Bush-Obama Administration had just sent us trillions in cash instead of wasting $5.5 trillion on “wars” in Iraq and Afghanistan that accomplished nothing.
-3600, I will pay for three slackers to get checks.
2 SMART SENIORS. We paid off all major bills, utilities, property taxes, cars/2-handicap hangers, 2 cell phones paid for excepted service, cable because he’s a sports nut, and insurances. Meds mostly come from Navy base. Ret 20 yr SCPO.
Their rules for distance is strictly enforced.
Suggestions for a revolver small hand grip. I CCW a Taurus ultra light .38, want a some more fire power in a lightweight one. Easy to hide. My carry purse I use for the NO Carry doctor’s visits broke.
I'm not one of the "special" groups that's constantly targeted for handouts every time some crisis comes along. This bill is basically just more welfare and pork piled on top of the almost limitless welfare and pork we have already. It's just more income redistribution from those that actually pay taxes to those that don't.
I’m not the revolver type. I carry a Sig P290 in 9mm for everyday.
Dependents in college get nothing?
Amigo, ¿qué? Mi nombre es Francisco López López Rodríguez Lozano y no pago nada. Soy indocumentado, ¡así que obtengo todo gratis! Jodido gringo
At least that what I imagine all the Jorges are saying as they laugh at us.
I am not running a local small business nor an employee of one, and literally no one’s employee. My income is various retirement incomes and I could take a hit on one of them due to the stock market’s performance. That might be a long term hit or a temporary one depending on how the markets change down the road.
In any case I am thinking that many will need the “stimulus” check much more than I will. Trying to decide what to do with it. If I could save one small favorite local business from closing - if that were possible - I would. I doubt my “stimulus” check can do that.
