I am the oldest of five and we did NOT have a lot growing up.

We threw nothing out if it was at all usable.

Course, my parents grew up during the depression and between that how tight things were, that was our lifestyle.

I’m still like that today. I hate getting rid of stuff with a passion and it makes it hard to part with stuff I really don’t need or use.

As far as spare parts, mr. mm and I have been discussing that and we have been doing the same as you. I am also stocking up on canning jar lids, which are generally an overlooked item in panic buying times.

So few people know how to can these days that it’s not hard to find them.

“This virus is exposing a lot of things that are going to piss off a lot of people—and demonstrate the greed of the people who own US corporations.”

Agree - but that is why we have laws, or should have laws.

If we had no pollution control laws, would businesses spend the huge sums of money for scrubbers out of the goodness of their hearts...or would they say their (particular) contribution to air quality was so small as to not matter? Pretty obvious.

So, to me, it was a POLITICAL FAILURE. They laws should have been in place - you want to operate a hospital, show us your mask inventory, or you get shut down...and have it available for surprise inspections. We used the honor system - we should know that can NEVER work.

“How many votes for face masks will you get next year? It’s not sexy...but the rules are there for a reason.”

The rules are MEANINGLESS if they’re not enforced. Who was checking on the hospitals to verify their face masks, and which hospitals were shutdown because of not following the rules?

It’s a bit too late to think about that AFTER we hand over our production capability to China and a pandemic breaks out.

Having a lot of cash right now is a dilemma. What can you buy ? I split it between cash, silver coins, food, available credit, bank deposits and PayPal deposits. That was weeks ago. Now food and silver coins are hard to find for sale. Right now the best thing you can buy with cash is support and sympathy. That may become valuable later on. Lol.

I’d sure like to know how many street people are getting hospitalized in NYC, LA, and some of the other hard hit cities.

5 States with most Covid-19 deaths are:
1. New York

NYC seems to be releasing their death info in the evenings

every morning 10-15 deaths are announced by Cuomo but then in the evening NYC announces dozens more

14 new deaths this morning....so if NYC announces 60 is that a 24 hour total seperate from the rest of the state?

The one big surprise to me has been the way both the hospitals and .gov has handled shortages.

Instead of admitting they had shortages of needed supplies, they tried to blame the victim (health care workers, the public) and accuse them of hoarding or over-reacting.

Integrity and transparency are not luxuries—they are necessities.

Forgot about another cash transfer weeks ago. Supplies for a pandemic. Those are more valuable than currency right now.

The stockpile would be refilled before the JC inspection every three years.

But my point is you want to be angry at the wrong people. You want to hang someone, start with the CFO of every major healthcare system.

Since this began with the quarantine of Wuhan, I’ve picked up several boxes of those every time I was out or placed an order somewhere that sold them.

“Having a lot of cash right now is a dilemma. What can you buy ?”

I don’t know your personal situation, but I’ve bought spare computers, phones, ink/toner for printers, power supplies, batteries (for charging phones and use in a blackout), car parts, refrigerators, freezers, tons of food, fuel, etc. And I was close to buying a car, but backed off since we have 2 newer ones (even though it will be at least 5 years, maybe 10 years, before there’s anything worth buying again).

As far as trying to maintain currency value, I figure the dollar will devalue by 50%, maybe a bit more, so everything above will soon cost twice what it cost ‘before’. But to your question - gold would be best long-term, if you can find it.

I order some Potato Grow Bags, similar to growing potato in 5 gallon bucket.

You are correct.

But everyone just acts surprised that this is happening.

And they get mad at the government. Do you think journalists know these rules?

The general public thinks the “systems” have your back. If you think ANY traditional hospital, government agency gives a sh!t about you over hiring someone’s cousin or making another 1/4% on their budget, you are fatally wrong.

So, the Congress turns around and gives all of these Criminals two trillion dollars? Nothing will change.

That’s exactly why I said random checks - companies will cheat. As far as CFOs go, if they want to keep their jobs, they must ‘play the game’. That’s why I will NEVER rely on the integrity of anyone in those positions...unless we have firing squads for accountability, we’ll never get to the place where we can trust those people.

What a confusing way to release NY/NYC latest info.

I wonder why this is. Hmmmm.

Under the FDA approval of "compassionate use", the patient must have a "life threatening condition". Only patients who are in serious condition should be given HCQ under compassionate use guidelines. This doctor's "any patient with shortness of breath, regardless of age" is quite a stretch on that guidance. Though there are large quantities of HCQ entering the pharmacy system, we do need to be careful about using it on milder cases.

By the end of May, we should have 200 Million tablets and much more on the way as production ramps up. As supplies increase, more liberal use should follow.

You know I am not YELLING at you, right?

There is so much criminal in all of this...and the ones in charge will throw up their hands and say no one saw this coming.

When they should be fined and thrown in the public stocks.
