Having a lot of cash right now is a dilemma. What can you buy ? I split it between cash, silver coins, food, available credit, bank deposits and PayPal deposits. That was weeks ago. Now food and silver coins are hard to find for sale. Right now the best thing you can buy with cash is support and sympathy. That may become valuable later on. Lol.

Forgot about another cash transfer weeks ago. Supplies for a pandemic. Those are more valuable than currency right now.

I don’t know your personal situation, but I’ve bought spare computers, phones, ink/toner for printers, power supplies, batteries (for charging phones and use in a blackout), car parts, refrigerators, freezers, tons of food, fuel, etc. And I was close to buying a car, but backed off since we have 2 newer ones (even though it will be at least 5 years, maybe 10 years, before there’s anything worth buying again).

As far as trying to maintain currency value, I figure the dollar will devalue by 50%, maybe a bit more, so everything above will soon cost twice what it cost ‘before’. But to your question - gold would be best long-term, if you can find it.
