Like all Americans, President Trump cant wait for the COVID-19 pandemic to be over. And while his administration struggles to get supplies and equipment out to hospitals facing critical shortages, he holds out hope that the disease, for which there is currently no proven treatment, can be eradicated with one stroke, by a medical coup.

Trump has been touting the potential of hydroxychloroquine for several days, noting that it has already been approved by the FDA for treating malaria and rheumatoid arthritis. That means it has been tested for safety (although it can have side effects, some of them unpleasant or dangerous) and can be prescribed by any doctor for any legitimate medical purpose, including so-called off-label uses. Azithromycin is a well-known antibiotic frequently prescribed for pneumonia, familiar to many Americans under the brand name Zithromax Z-Pak.
Trumps tweet referenced an article in a medical journal, the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, which appeared online the day before in preprint, meaning it has not been put through peer review by other researchers and may or may not stand up to their scrutiny. The article was based on a single study in France that administered the drug regimen to 26 patients infected with the coronavirus, plus 16 in a control group who received only symptomatic care. Of the 26 who got the drugs, one died a rate of 3.8%, which is about in line with the usual estimates of mortality from COVID-19. The experimental treatment was stopped for three when they went into intensive care and one dropped out of the study because of side effects.
But the encouraging news from the study was that the people taking the drugs were cleared of the virus i.e., tested negative much more rapidly and completely than the control group.

That is very much short of the full clinical trial the Food and Drug Administration typically requires before approving a new drug, which can take a year or more, cost millions of dollars and involve thousands of patients. But, as the authors wrote in explaining why they rushed to publicize their findings, despite its small sample size our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin.
“IS” or “COULD BE”.
Article neglects to say that 50 hospitals in Australia are using it, not to mention other countries.
Poland has already approved it and it’s their main drug to use.
Thanks!

Wonder what Fauci would say if someone asked him “If YOU were diagnosed with covid-19 and your symptoms were getting bad would YOU take hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin?”
No deaths at Lennox Hill Hospital from the virus after using hydroxychloroquine By M. Dowling March 20, 2020
Dr. William Grace from Lennox Hill Hospital told Laura Ingraham on her show last night that he has been prescribing Hydroxychloroquine to his patients with coronavirus. They have 100 patients and have had zero deaths after the use of Hydroxychloroquine.
Hydroxychloroquine is the less toxic version of Chloroquine.
Grace said that a big reason older people die from the coronavirus is that their lungs fill up with fluid as part of an immune response to the virus. Hydroxychloroquine works, Grace notes, in both inhibiting the immune response and inhibiting the replication of the virus.
Can’t read this commie bllsht from fricking Yay-Hoo.

The FDA, like other scientists, is used to getting ambiguous results and making decisions which could be wrong.Because if there is random variability in the data, you have to bite the bullet and accept a hypothesis with, say, a 5% chance you could be wrong.
Its one thing to demand a 95% certainty to make a decision when you are in a nice, air-conditioned office in perfect health. Its quite another thing when you are in a hospital bed afraid every breath might be your last. Then could be wrong doesnt matter a whole lot compared to probably right. At that point even might be right sounds pretty good.
The other thing is that when your results dont show a great deal of variability - if all your patients respond positively, none significantly negatively - then you can be 95% sure of your decision with a pretty small sample size.
New York will start implementing the trial drugs to treat Coronavirus.
NY has acquired:
- 70,000 Hydroxychloroquine
- 10,000 Zithromax
- 750,000 Chloroquine
From the Federal Government.
Trials will start Tuesday.

Looks like NY is going to do some trials for us
Always a good question...but...there are examples of drugs which have been studied in detail...showed some promise, even approved and failed when used on a larger scale...gut level is that it may help...probably should be approved under compassionate use for the very ill and results should be reported IMMEDIATELY...analyzed...and recommendations made...ASAP. I am not sure if Fauci is directing those efforts but somebody should be, like, right now.
The President needs to stop with all the false hope. We need at least 100,000 deaths and 48 news conferences by Joe Biden to have a chance at this election. I say that with sarcasm but in the minds of Michael Moore and Rachel Maddow those demons would trade a few 100,000 Americans if they could get socialists elected. It angers them we may be able to run this thing down in a few months. Why we can’t debate them or compromise with them, we need to defeat them at thew ballot box and the Antifa style ones we need to send to the graveyard.
If someone knows statistics, the French results are significant beyond doubt.
