I don't believe the Coronavirus will get in America out of hand like it did in China. I also believe the danger will pass in a fee weeks if we can just push through and not panic. There are a few reasons I say this. The most important reason is that we were forewarned. Lets hear it for the the power of free speech. It's something the Chinese people lack and allowing better communication could have saved more of them.
The Chinese people were not warned about the virus. Indeed, the Chicoms did their best not to warn their people. It was only when it got out of control that they had to take measures to fight the virus. So they chose to enforce mandatory social distancing among other more violent measures.
Americans are practicing social distancing in spades. As a people we do so more than any country. We like our space and we've extended that space. Of course, in the long run it's not good for our society.
The other thing I think people are practicing is better hygiene practices. People are washing their hands more often and longer. They are buying up and using sanitizer. This is crucial to stopping any virus.
Lastly, denying access to this country from places where the virus is out of control is vital. This inhibits the "viral input" into our communities. The travel ban will probably have to extend until the Europeans and others get their act together.
I don't see a reason why we can't beat this virus quickly. The measures have been extreme for a free and open country but they were implemented early. I don't see any reason why this virus won't peak soon and the cases start dropping precipitously.
If travel from places that have it is crucial, when will the states start preventing traffic from Washington, Oregon, and New York?
When will eastern Washington cut off Western?
When will cities barricade themselves against their neighbors?
I’m more worried about the Flu...and I’ll bet we have less flu this year due to all the hygiene advice

Some things are worth making an anti-American POS die for.
I suspect it will be as bad in pockets same. Too many people dismissed it and still do as flu. Only now is Trump even taking it seriously and he still has not closed the borders. Plus, CDC has been and appears totally incompetent in testing.
I figure we’ll know in about three to four weeks. If we don’t see a huge uptick in cases, which I hope we don’t, then I think people will relax. If young people decide they’re safe they’re not going to stay home for long. And how much TP can you store in your garage? Let’s get through the next few weeks and see where we are. For the record I’m 68 and my wife is older and has COPD, so we’re being cautious.

The one thing I have not heard answered. If I get this, will or can I recover?
Hmmm, why would nobody want to answer that?
Might I get it? Absolutely! But will I be able to recover? Sure, it will be unpleasant and horrid being sick with this. Isn’t it always unpleasant being sick with the flu or say, Lyme’s Disease, which I have had.
Crickets.
Are more people currently recovering from this than getting sick? Have people who contracted it actually gotten better.

Because, you know, when you can’t win at the polls, just collapse the world. I wonder, after the first economic data is released showing us in a recession, will it be a matter of seconds or micro-seconds before the media pivots from Coronavirus, pretends it never happened, and the coverage is the economy and “Trumps Recession” 24/7?

It wasn’t addressed nationally until this last week, it’s been here since at least January - individually people who were aware of the danger became prepared even though most Americans weren’t aware and/or didn’t want to hear the news, but we are very late to the game as a nation.
Big test on the market tomorrow. I give this 2 weeks more. We have found oyt about Northern Italy, the nursing home in Washington, facts the left has left out...I almost think this virus is a dumpster fire and the real virus is the normal flu or cold that is seemingly worse this year. Why did the federal government hire outbreak workers in November?

When I here a sentence that contains “I believe” or “I think” I immediately place the sentence under same category as “I like cheese, do you like cheese?”
Frame it another way. Lots of FR are over 60, many over 75. Wait until a few get sick or their their spouses and siblings get sick, maybe even start dying. Let’s see if people are willing to dismiss it then or criticize any discussion about it.

We will know in 2 weeks. Everyone has been saying 4 weeks for the last three weeks. The moment of truth is at hand, the time cannot be perpetually moved for the good of making a point to panic.
If not for the “its just the flu” bros and the idiots so self centered they break quarantine I would say you are right. Unfortunately a significant % of our population are stupid aholes and are going to run around like typhoid marys.
