I figure we’ll know in about three to four weeks. If we don’t see a huge uptick in cases, which I hope we don’t, then I think people will relax. If young people decide they’re safe they’re not going to stay home for long. And how much TP can you store in your garage? Let’s get through the next few weeks and see where we are. For the record I’m 68 and my wife is older and has COPD, so we’re being cautious.

We will know in 2 weeks. Everyone has been saying 4 weeks for the last three weeks. The moment of truth is at hand, the time cannot be perpetually moved for the good of making a point to panic.

US infection rate was rising at about a doubling every four days; last few days are a bit higher but that may well be due to increased testing. ‘Mortality’ (current deaths 62/3120 infections) is running at about 2% of infected, but that’s not quite the numbers needed for correct mortality, which should be deaths vs recovered, with time lag accounted for, but we don’t have recovered data. I agree the next few weeks are key. I am wondering if the best plan is for the high risk population to go into full quarantine and let the rest get it and get over it as fast as possible to build a herd immunity, then slowly re-integrate the higher risk population, with a slow enough infection rate that the medical system can manage reasonably.

Hi redangus, you give sage advice that many people don't want to hear.

I'm over in Germany and within our extensive American community the majority are running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

I'm 66 and observing the normal flu precautions. But you are right us older folks need to be extra cautious which we wait and see what happens in the next two to four weeks. Take Care!
