FRANCE

France becomes latest country to go into lockdown in battle against coronavirus

France has become the latest country to go into coronavirus lockdown, with the government ordering the closure of shops, cinemas, restaurants and cafés from tonight for the foreseeable future.

Prime Minister Édouard Philippe has asked citizens to work from home and to only go outside to buy essential supplies, take light exercise, and vote in this weekend’s local elections.

All non-essential businesses will be closed and although public transport will remain open, Mr Philippe encouraged residents to limit their use, telling them not to travel between towns unless essential.

True!
My son is a manager in a Procter and Gamble warehouse.
They can’t keep up.
Grocery warehouses are calling in I dependent truckers to cover extra grocery runs.

The market drives business.
As I tell my trucking buddies , Never let a good crisis go to waste, go out and get ya some.

For many reasons, mainly so they could take care of themselves, I taught our kids life skills from when they were still in diapers. When daughter was about a year and a half, I made her first chocolate chip cookies while she sat on the counter (yeah, bad mom). Six months later, I sat her on the counter to make her a second batch and she told me everything that went into them.

They’d sit in the grocery cart and pick out which veggies were ripe and not bruised.

I was sick in bed with pneumonia when daughter was in 4th grade. She made the entire Thanksgiving dinner by memory from scratch including the pies with homemade crust. Years later, she admitted she doesn’t roll out pie dough but mushes it into the pie plate, lol. She only asked me how much sage to put into the dressing (from homemade cornbread not that nasty stove top stuff) and all I could manage to say was, “twice as much as you think.” She got the 23 lb turkey into the oven but had to ask hubby to pull it out of the oven. No one’s grandmother could have done better.

Cooking isn’t rocket science. Those kids could teach themselves even if they have lazy parents.

That might work, but the feds won't even think of this because it makes sense. Think of them as Dilbert's Mordac, the Preventer of Information Services.

"You send staff at the power plants to Mars, in effect. Isolate the facility from intrusion of outside sources of infection. Drop ship essential supplies which are then treated with a portable gamma source for sterilization. A military operation provides security, access control outside the facility."

If read that genetics are involved: but it's with the *virus*. Two different strains with different R0 values.

As far as Italy, though, Northern Italy has a truckload of Chinese, working in the fashion industry (textile workers, seamstresses, that kind of thing).

They went to China for Chinese New Year and brought it back.

Our HEB isn’t even as big as one row of those aisles. The only time I saw empty tp was this week.

Funny how that works.

truckers and their unions need to call California governor for emergency action.

Mr. BP says, the way it works now, truckers coming into Calif have to go to ‘distribution centers’ and drop the load and go home. From there, only ‘calif certified’ (or some gobbledeegook) drivers can pick up the load and deliver it within Calif.

This is a bottleneck that needs to be broken now. Truckers can do it faster than a citizen petition. Get ‘er done, guys!

Yes, AFAIK most of the fatality data provides fatality percentage rates for age groups in ten year groups (0.2% for ages 20-29, for example), and the fatality percentages are based on known CoVid-19 deaths in that age group divided by total CoVid-19 infections proven by testing.
"Have we ever seen fatality data for an age group based upon that age groups infections only?"
