Numbers out of China early were that 90% get pneumonia. I think how sick you get depends largely on the size of the viral load you are infected with initially. The smaller the load, the longer your immune system has to respond. There are going to be plenty of 20 somethings being ventilated and with permanent damage.
I think the heavier viral loads come from breathing in virus laden aspirated air, like working next to someone who is infectious and breathing in the viruses they are expelling all day.
I’m going to take a a turn here.

Get our relationship right with God.
Truly know Him and be in honest, humble relationship with him.
See others as He sees them.
...and while we’re given each present moment, enjoy it and savor it for the gift that it is.
We can get so temporal and is not good.
So in that spirit and with thoughtfulness, take a break from the numbers, the headlines, the preparations and the debates to spend time with Him.

Well, that’s kind of it...isn’t it? The severe measures will collapse the economy by themselves. There are no right answers. The forced reaction leads to the same end as if it had been done proactively. Collapse the economy earlier or later...it doesn’t matter, the government fails and falls either way.

H1N1 originated in asian swine, best guess, but, could have been around back to the dinosaurs for all we know. It is a very old virus, that became more virulent when European pigs met Asian pigs. Hoof and mouth, or anthrax, is resident in every soil just about every where. it also has been around since dinosaurs probably. Droughts/wet seasons, increased tillage, all can provide conditions for anthrax release and growth. A virus escaped in the UK, wouldn't have affected the siberians who died from anthrax, contracting it from a defrosted caribou carcass.

Virus have survived for millinea whereas humans have been around for an ecological blink of an eye. Because of this, stories about viral outbreaks being a result of a nefarious lab release need to be taken with a tablespoon of salt.
I wondered the same thing, that it’s all about the viral load, which explains why HCW as well as those in close confines get sicker than others.
We know that’s not going to happen. My son works for an airline. He’s in Kuwait now. Then back to Ireland for 1.5 weeks.

Asians, by their culture, are predisposed to respect authority, obey their governments, and even sacrifice for the common good. Western countries have no such cultural tradition. Pushing back against authority, refusing to bend is our tradition.
