Just as an aside I went to our local Costco. (NORTHERN CT) No toilet paper at all. Water limited to 2 per member. 20 pound bags or rice and flour limited (really?)
People are buying big bags of flour. Barely a dent in the yeast stock. I guess they are making matzah.
But it was more a holiday spirit, not a panic. It was very orderly, lots of registers open.
But really? Limit of 100# of rice? Maybe I AM underestimating this.
Something to behold.
Personally I am all for a 14 days lock down to stop spreading the virus and then isolate those who are sick with symptoms.
But 401-k owners are not going to be happy.

A guy I know flies for work. Last week, he was sick as a dog and guzzling cough med. He waited until he back to his home state before going to the doctor. The doctor told him he probably had CV and that he’s now immune to getting it again and to go on back to work. No test.

us 401k holders are going to be much more unhappy if this lasts months and take the world into a depression...and that’s not out of the realm of possibility.
Thankfully it’s quite likely that Trump won’t suspend his campaign while he works on the solution like McLame did.
If there’s a grandma within a 4 hour drive, many of those parents will call her to come down. And then what happens when grandma walks into the germy house with asymptomatic kids and gets it?

A top U.S. health official said the worst is yet to come with the coronavirus outbreak that has already infected more than 1,000 people across the nation and resulted in at least 31 deaths.
“I can say we will see more cases and things will get worse than they are right now,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Wednesday at a hearing on the nation’s preparedness for the outbreak.
Fauci said COVID-19 is at least 10 times “more lethal” than the seasonal flu, even if the mortality rate drops far below the World Health Organization’s current estimate of 3.4%.

The COVID-19 outbreak is just weeks underway in the U.S. How much worse it gets depends on two things, Fauci said: containing the influx of infected people coming from other countries and containing local outbreaks within the U.S.
“Bottom line is it’s going to get worse,” he added.
