6 feet makes sense to me in a semi-enclosed indoor setting with relatively small airflow, such as a typical conference room. At that distance, the virons (or whatever they’re called) will disperse enough to not be concentrated to the point of infecting people. But spend 4 hours on a bus, as in this case, and the one infected guy just keeps pumping out the virons, and being winter, it’s possible not much fresh air was making it into the bus.
I’m actually more surprised by how many people on that bus didn’t pick it up.

I’m buying more into the theory they were developing a SARS vaccine and went to human trials, but they bungled it. Of course, none of the experimental bodies has come forward in China to say they were a test subject. Maybe they all croaked.
I would wager they caught the virus by touching the door, seat or something. I am not an epidemiologist and I did not stay in a Holiday Inn last night - but if it is airborne 4 meters away, then the world is in epic trouble.
