Connor Reed, a 25-year-old expat from Llandudno in North Wales, has worked in a school in Wuhan, China, for almost a year. In November he became the first British man to catch the coronavirus...Day 9: Even the kitten hanging around my apartment seems to be feeling under the weather. It isnt its usual lively self, and when I put down food it doesnt want to eat...Day 11: Suddenly, Im feeling better, physically at least. The flu has lifted. But the poor kitten has died. I dont know whether it had what Ive got, or whether cats can even get human flu.

This guy was already in the news over a month ago. Here’s the article from back then. No mention of the kitten & “much” mention of his refusal to take drugs prescribed to him. Make of that what you will. Funny how we didn’t get the daily updates of his plight back then...just sayin’.
Thanks.
I’ve been concerned about this since the end of January when they put Wuhan on lockdown and the first guy in the US was discovered with it near us.
So she put up with me telling her to use the hand sanitizer often, and every time she got in her car, and then wiping down the wheel, door, etc. with Clorox wipes. (She also put up with me prepping for it and buying tons of wipes, alcohol, etc.
Of course now she is getting almost as concerned as I am.
And you know - buying “tons” of wipes 3-4 weeks ago? That was probably 50 containers of them. Now that there aren’t any more in the stores, it’s a pretty small pile. The last few times I would walk right by them (and the alcohol, the huge jugs of hand sanitizer, etc.) thinking that I already had a bunch at home, and would save it for the other people.

CS is so yesterdays snake oil. Perinial sunning and nude hot yoga. That is the ticket. 100% cure rate for everything.
lol
It sounds like a BRUTAL illness to go through. A guy that got better in the US said it was AWFUL.
And it’s probably very frightening to have.
But I guess it’s called the bright side...it’s not an absolute death sentence.
Still feel for the folks in Washington in that facility.
bttt
Yeah of course I was half joking.
It sounds just awful and I recall the American who got better saying it was the worst illness by far that he ever had.
Frankly from the description I don’t see my 87 year old mom or my 86 year old Aunt Fran surviving it if they get it.
Aunt Fran is kind of a pain in the neck though so...
But I want to keep mommy for some more years :(
PFL...thanks for posting.
The cat.
My best friend through about 5 to 6 years of recovery from a very bad injury (head) was my little buddy Spaghetti. (YES, I’mm a WOP)
My mom and girlfriend got him while I was in ICU.
He’s still my best little buddy.
I’m no PETA activist, to say the least, but I’d destroy someone who hurt my cat.
Poor little fella in this story :(
Or you could get BOTH strains.....
I think in some cases it gets to the point where they are mechanically oxygenating the blood and there are very few machines available to do that.
Stay warm and rest, but get sun and fresh air if possible. I am recovering from the flu (23 mil. Americans, 18k deaths) the flu, and as with colds, I pray, and try to eat something nutritious (I like tomato sauce with sauce garlic and onions, and of course, grated cheese) along with a good vitamin and mineral supplement. That is important to do daily when you do not feel like it.
Others disagree:
You can probably get both. Again and again.
This thing had us all down for weeks.
He said he doesn’t smoke so his lungs were in good shape
Black Agnes doesn’t believe him and has been skeptical from the start when I first started talking about this guy.
I am on the fence. I think it is possible he had it but wants the limelight.
But if he did have it back in November...you can bet it was circulating in the US in December.
There's a cat in the kettle with the Wuhan flu..Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Tell me about it. We’ve been moping around the house for 6 weeks with mild flu symptoms and intermittent low grade fevers.
Picked up mom at the local international airport the week before after a two week trip...
