Corps.

So the losers get written out of history, revisionism.
Written out by the LOSERS !! Why ? because they can and they will, when do you realize they will stop at nothing to destroy or rewrite history to fit their narrative. Either you fight to destroy the cancer or it will infect you. Are you ready to fight?
The losers were illegal insurgents who attempted to destroy America. Why in the hell should we have any of their symbols on an American military base? It would be like having a statue of Benedict Arnold on an American base.
This Marine vet fully supports the commandants decision.

First time USMC ever spit on me.
Wouldn't this be more like removing American Indian symbols in the military...like Apache, Black Hawk, Chinook?
My fellow OIF brother, just make sure you NEVER tell anyone that the “Emancipation Proclamation” only freed southern slaves and the last were freed in New Jersey AFTER the war.
Victors write / re-write history.
I am not a “revisionist, sore loser,” etc. I am just an Eastern European Jew whose family was enslaved and murdered... Like 98% of southerners we were never slave-owners nor did we have anything to do with plantation lifestyles.
At the same time I would surely have fought for the south and the Southern cause.
Always fascinated by my many FRiends who attack confederate values and whine about an out-of-control federal government.
Damn injuns lost too. Maybe we should rid ourselves of all American Indian memorials?
Yeah, let's go after statues!
Our monuments and memorials to the Confederacy are in memory
and honor of those convicted in their opposition to the Union which successfully prosecuted that of which George III was incapable 90 years prior. They were and are fellow Americans in the spirit and the dedication and desire for Freedom.
God and the world has spoken otherwise.
Those dedicated to eradicating their commemoration-in the community and in the nation’s civil and military history are responsible for helping to forget this legacy of division -a risk which remains consequent of the freedoms we continue to enjoy, and increases the probability of such recurrence and division.
The sentiments and concerns people echo today for “Civil War 2.0” are a partially consequence of attempts at eradication of this history and its commemoration in our schools and communities-which is necessary to commence successfully prosecute a second such conflict.
Something we all must NOT let occur.
That said-on an active duty US military base the commemoration should be strictly historical- and not active.
“...which is necessary to successfully prosecute a second such conflict”
sheesh—I previewed that several times and missed!!!
This guy in charge of the jars is a cuck.
How can you claim to defend america and not study and LEARN from its history? The confederste battle flag offends you? You are too stupid to be a marine. You may have worn the uniform but you ain’t no real marine.
So spring Confederate-related paraphernalia may remain.
Lincoln had no constitutional authority to free slaves in area not in rebellion. Congress passed the confiscation acts during the war which authorized Lincoln to issue the emancipation proclamation.
Lincoln did, however, push strongly and lobbied to pass the thirteenth amendment which destroyed slavery. Before he sent the amendment to the states for ratification he signed it. Which was not necessary, but showed how much he wanted it ratified.
In south Carolina close to 50% of families were slave owning families. If you look at the percentage of slave owning families in the slave holding states the higher the percentage the more likely the state was to rebel.
If the rebels had won a government would have been established that explicitly endorsed some humans as property. Can’t think of a more out of control government than that.
well said.
