One good tip on freezing the eggs I saw a while back is to use an ice tray to freeze, then pop out and put in a ziplock bag.

I have a dehydrator, that I just dehydrated several ponds of veggies with.

I’ve never tried meat. I may have to give that a try.

We love beef jerky. We have a place, nearby, that makes our fave.

“It’d be a lot cheaper and less worry to can your protein. What happens when the gas runs out.”

I’m going to hope it doesn’t. I suspect that we could produce gasoline very cheaply, and very easily, if we simply let off the regulations (temporarily). We all have limits, mine are constrained by where I live...so I’ll time-out in months, not years. And canning isn’t practical where I am (and I’d probably poison myself if tried), but I do have a lot of canned stuff that I bought.

Give me 10 acres and I’d probably have 2000 gallons of propane stored (underground), good enough for years. But I don’t have that (yet), nor do I have time to get there, for this virus.

That is a great way.

I just used qt freezer bags.

We go through a lot of eggs, so thawing out 6 or 12 won’t last long.

MEXICO

Mexico Confirms Third Coronavirus Case, Linked to Italy
A 59-year-old man in Mexico City who also visited northern Italy is the third case but authorities did not say whether he had been hospitalised.

Mexico City: Mexico’s health ministry said the country has confirmed three cases of the coronavirus, becoming the second Latin American nation reached by the global outbreak. The three men — two in Mexico City and one in the northern state of Sinaloa — are all believed to have visited northern Italy, the epicentre of the virus in Europe.

“Probably all three were infected from the same source. All three are imported cases,” Jose Luis Alomia, general director of epidemiology at the Ministry of Health, said at a press conference Friday

I would not want to be an illegal trying to cross the border now. If caught You could be held in an ICE facility holding area with someone with Coronavirus.

I’m a bit of a prepper which is why we got a few laying hens last year. They should start laying here this Spring. Recall last year there egg shortages and they doubled in price for a little while. Now I just need a food grade 55 gal drum and layer crumbles to fill it, LOL.

Just bought a 7 cf freezer from wally world. It was something we were planning on getting this year anyway but I figured I better get it now while they still have them because they’re not rolling out of the factory doors right now. Once wally world’s stock is out, there won’t be any more for a while.

My husband is up at our "bug out" place in Colorado. Our fridge up there broke, so he bought one down here and transported it up there along with a truck load of food, some new chairs.

It turns out one of the pipes burst over the winter, so he's got to fix that this weekend.

Concerned about my daughter who moved to Seattle last summer. She won't take this seriously and I am afraid she is going to get stuck there. I flew up there two weekends ago and took her to Costco and, at least, filled her pantry with stables--rice, canned fruits, soups, etc.

Went to a Walmart in central Alabama yesterday to stock up on a few items. There was some evidence of prepping, but nothing dramatic.

The hand sanitizer was almost sold out, just three bottles of a brand name and a dozen or so bottles of Walmart’s Equate brand. Shelves about 90% empty.

Powdered milk sold out except for a few of the smallest size packages.

And there was about a four foot wide empty space where the bagged sugar was displayed, Lol. There were still some bags of sugar, but there had been a run on it.

There were other areas where the stock in canned items looked lower than usual, but none where the shelves were just empty.

Have others noticed much evidence of runs on food items in their areas?

Depending on the size, you can even put one egg in each cube of an ice tray and then bag them for the freezer. It takes up more freezer room but it portions out the size. Or whites in one tray and yolks in another.

Ice cube trays are handy little things. Left over tomato paste. Yogurt starter. Baby food.

Yes, prepping for chickens can be expensive! I’m thinking about buying a couple bags of cracked corn for them, for when I run out of layer feed. We got a rooster recently so, God forbid it gets this bad, we can raise some chickens for meat.

Pork roast makes great jerky.

I just put away the dehydrator this morning after making banana chips the past few days.

Yea, I have a 9 and a 7, and can borrow a 25, if necessary (and if I can move it!). But you are right, whatever is in the pipeline is it. Just like drugs, which were very low (particularly Advil) at Wally this morning (along with Benedryl nearly being gone). I doubt what’s left makes it through the day.

Beef jerky keeps. Buy a lot of shoulder steak or something cheap, ask if they can thin-slice it, run a dehydrator non-stop.
