Deputy Health Minister Hugo López-Gatell announced on Tuesday that there was still no sign of Covid-19 in the country.
He said that the Pan American Health Organization recognized Mexico as the first country to adopt a protection protocol after Monday’s announcement to test the samples that came up negative for other strains of the flu.
“And we’re constantly looking for new alternatives to make this protocol more efficient. It’s a general sampling. We received over 5,000 samples of all of the acute respiratory diseases [in the country],” he said, adding that so far results have come up negative.
Correction: This past Tuesday, not Monday. I was impressed they’re doing random samples, unlike the USA.

If you KNOW a hurricane is coming, it’s huge and devastating and have little children, how do you act?
First, you don’t become reactionary.
You don’t bring the kids outside every half hour with a wind speed indicator to show them the winds are increasing. You don’t show them the radar every five minutes. You don’t shout out the barometric pressure drops every fifteen minutes.
There’s nothing you can do to change the facts that IT IS COMING AND IT WILL BE BAD.
CV19 is like that hurricane that IS coming and soft Americans are too often like the little children.
Taking CDC tests won’t stop it. It will only cause panic as the true numbers are revealed. CV19 is already here.
20,000 Chinese were already in the US before fights stopped. Besides that, it was already in other countries from whence people traveled.
There was and is no stopping it.
No need to give the kiddos, especially the bad elements in society, a panic scenario.
Best to calmy prepare the kids, the adults and the country for the KNOWN next steps the adults WILL have to take and calmly prepare the kids for that safety and the safety of the nation.
This is what’s happening. The fed gov has been preparing for harsh measures to come. The continued calm that POTUS is pushing is giving time for behind the scenes preparation. Think looting, marital law, think quarantines, maybe worse. We are not the obedient Chinese society. Many of our ferrel youth are we see and do to are many adults. To much of our society is not emotionally mature enough to be prepared for what’s coming, so the adults are preparing for the inevitable storm.
Thankfully, notice is now given “get some supplies ready for a possible (I suspect PROBABLE) rough ride to come.
P.s. Clean your guns. Know which neighbors got your back. Be silent about the level of your preparation, or friends, neighbors and family WILL come-A-knocking.

No amount of competence could stop the spread.
We would have to have had travel bans to/from all nations, including the SW border, six months ago. Not realistic.

Now we have to deal with it.
Three sooner this is accepted the better you are to prepare for what’s coming
Watching the reaction around here is like watching little children.
But, I disagree in that not everyone is like us and paying attention. There is a healthy size of sensible people who would prepare if given stern and serious advisement. Now, they'll never prepare until it's too late. Especially when the president gets up there and says it is under control.It would also keep people from congregating in large gatherings and groups.
Panic is coming. I don't know the difference if it is next week or next month, other than the time gives the elites time to make their financial and physical moves. (they deserve time for neither)
My son goes to one of the big universities here in AZ. He said yesterday he saw three Chinese students getting dropped off from a car with their luggage.

BOTHELL, Wash. — The superintendent of Northshore School District said Wednesday in an email to families one of its high schools will be closed Thursday after a staffer’s family member was placed in quarantine for possible coronavirus.
Northshore School District superintendent Michelle Reid said Bothell High School will be closed Thursday “out of an abundance of caution.”
Reid said a staff member at Bothell High School returned to work Monday after a week of international travel. The staffer said a family member traveling with them became sick Tuesday and was taken to the hospital. The family member is being treated, monitored and quarantined at the hospital for possible coronavirus. The test results for the sicked family member may take 5-7 days.
Reid said the school staffer is not sick, but remains in self-quarantine at their home.
Just read this part of your post. Makes sense. I have been saying since day 1, we have a massive underclass that can't think beyond the next 15 minutes. They'll be out in masse.

The mock testing they did 2 years ago indicated no matter how well any country is prepared for a situation like this, if the global health-care systems couldn’t contain it there’s nothing to really be done except, prep and pray.

Could be. Now the ‘best and brightest’ bean counters are finally getting around to ‘discovering’ our supply line exposure...something we’ve been talking about here for over a month now.
To me, the market is just getting started, on it’s way to ‘adjusting’ to a new-normal, with world commerce slowing to a trickle (and standards of living dropping with it).
Early on I was tracking the global one-off cases.
Now our house is watching how Western nations are reacting to the case loads. Italy and SK are good examples. Many people quarantined, towns locked down, threat of arrest, hospitals and medical care overwhelmed. The trends in those areas well give us clues as to what we should expect here and what the fedgov is preparing for.
The one-off cases, while interesting are a study majoring in minors at this point.
They have announced a possible case here. The most logical place is my location because of Virginia Tech.
In it they are talking about the financial impact.

FREEPERS have been posting about this for way longer than that. And IIRC, POTUS over a year ago, was telling people to find other suppliers outside of China.
