Dallas bed bugs expert says he treats 5 to 10 rideshare vehicles per week

A Dallas-based pest exterminator tells WFAA that he treats up to 10 rideshare vehicles per week for bed bugs, a mode of transportation that thousands turn to weekly to get around the metro.

For Don Brooks, owner of Doffdon Pest Control, bed bugs are his life. He travels daily around the metro to rid the nuisance insects (that multiply fast) from both homes and vehicles.

Brooks told WFAA that he's seeing more and more rideshare drivers.

"I probably do five to 10 rideshare cars per week," Brooks said.

"Drivers either see bed bugs, someone complained, or they were suspicious of a customer and just want to make sure."

Why would rideshare vehicles be more prone to bedbugs than taxi’s are?

whenever you arrive home, undress on the porch, burn your cloths, and shower with the garden hose.

Never saw a bedbug until Obama was President. One was a blood sucking parasite and the other was a bug.

I wonder if the taxi companies fumigate on a regular basis?

I drove for a livery for some years and the only time they got fumigated was when they caught fire :)

Yellows may have more strict rules.

Here in Phoenix it’s easy to rid your car of bugs. Just park it out in the sun all day.

I went out with a girl who’s ex was a ride share person.

First Date no problem.
Second date was at her house, and I broke out in a rash the next day. I’m blaming the cat.
Third date I see a bug on the couch and she squashes it.
Then I saw a bug on me and knocked into the sink and it went down the drain.
Then I saw a third bug on my hand and by that time I was googling bed bugs, so I put the bug on top of the picture of the bed bugs on the phone and it was identical.

I left.
I took some measures but didn’t think it was likely i had a problem. 2 months later I notice bites in a row. I put down diatomaceous earth across the threshold to every room. Slept in another room and sprayed the room where I was bitten good. Then I lifted up the mattress to put a cover on it. And I found two bedbugs on the bottom of the mattress.
I think that was it.

Haven’t had a problem in over a year. I was lucky I caught it early.

And I didn’t give up on the girl, but she quit responding.

“...sprayed the room where I was bitten.”

Wow. You did the right thing: full prevention mode. Sorry the girl didn’t work out. The ex who drove for ride share brought the bugs. People in home sharing probably deal with a lot of bus.

The government will do just what it did when the evidence for spread of HIV was linked to mosquitoes in South Florida ... they will call it a conspiracy theory and deny the truth.
