...The other day when you gave that award to Rush Limbaugh, my father would have been so delighted, she wrote. He loved listening to Rush, which is why I allowed my song, My City Was Gone, to be used on his radio show. My father and I didnt always see eye-to-eye. We argued a lot but isnt that the American way? The right to disagree without having your head chopped off?...

Oh well, when she does come to know, maybe she will sing a different tune about Pres. Trump entirely. She's definitely showing signs that maybe she's not beach friends with Streisand and Cher.
Who knows, perhaps we might even see her play at a Trump rally one day.
I think he is in terrible danger.
The right to disagree without having your head chopped off?...
Interesting way of putting it. It implies she has a clue
I don't expect to see her at any Trump rallies but that's okay. We can agree to disagree on politics with civility. It would be a much better world if we could all do that.
Doesn’t attack Rush or Trump despite having a different political opinion then them? Supports Julian Assange??
The libs are going to put her on a Chain Gang
mixing The Avengers with The Pretenders

Btw, saw Emma Peels daughter on the show Detectorists. I wasnt watching it just heard it. I kept saying I recognize that voice...who is that....because she sounds so much like her mother.
I can still the friends I was with when we all heard “My City Was Gone” for the first time. We were all dazzled!
I thought she got pissed when Rush used her music as his theme.
That's another song that of hers that I like.
That was the original thought at the time, but the explanation was that she didn't object, it was people in the music business associated with her. Anyway, she said her mother liked listening to Rush so she had no objection.
I don’t know much about Hynde - ‘Chain Gang’ is the only song we hear on the local ‘Classic Rock’ station, and other than that she’s never been on my radar.
But this seems a very measured and respectful communication.
I like that she’s not afraid to speak from the heart. I get the feeling she really doesn’t care what anyone thinks. I admire that.
2,000 Miles is such a heartbreaking song.
IIRC, apparently her mother was a Rush fan and that persuaded Hynde to continue to allow Rush to use that music for his show.
Ah, thanks!
2,000 miles!
Good call!
Dazzled might not be the best descriptor for me and my friends at Wisconsin-Whitewater when we first spun that vinyl.... Kenwood turntable, Sansui amp, Pioneer HPM speakers.
All sorts of influences and pressures affect people - especially very ‘public’ people.
I appreciate it when they respond to conflicting concerns in very heart-felt ways.
Hynde has no clue after 9/11 she made pretty disgusting remarks including: Lets get rid of all the economic (expletive) this country represents! Bring it on, I hope the Muslims win!
My community on Staten Island lost over 250 people. Screw her and the horse she road in on. She can go to hell for all I care.
I was still in college when the debut album came out, and the record store near campus had the cover displayed on the wall. It stood out... and while I was browsing, they played "Brass in Pocket." I didn't put the cover/band and song together right away but I, too, was blown away.
"The Pretenders" and "Learning to Crawl" were keepers. There was a bunch of good stuff being released at that time.
