Tuesday, during a trip on Walker’s Dive Charters out of Riviera Beach, Florida, a group of scuba divers encountered a once-in-a-lifetime experience – a great white shark. The encounter took place near a spot known as the Breakers Reef, a mile offshore of the Breakers Hotel on Palm Beach. During the dive, a great white shark about 20 feet long slowly drifted by near the bottom, enabling divers to get photos and brief video. On average, female great white sharks measure 15-16 feet in length, and males grow to 11-13 feet, according to the Smithsonian.snip
A team from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries Shark Research Program is working to identify the shark. Over the years, the program has developed a database to identify white sharks based on distinctive markings, scars and coloration.

Your posts are always sober on this topic. You've noted many times that the increase in these sorts of sightings is what's happens when you move food sources close to mankind, or when mankind creeps closer to their home.
As such, can you please comment on this paragraph - specifically, how wise is it to swim after a Great White? I understand, they're all not bloodthirsty, eat-anything machines. But they're also not guppies.

Seeing a really big shark in real life is impressive. My son and i used to fish the Perlas Islands almost every weekend. We would see 8-10 foot hammerheads every trip out. One day we saw a Tiger that was longer than my 20 foot boat. Seriously huge. At one point it breached like a whale or a sub right through a ball of bait. You could have dropped a 55 gallon drum in it’s mouth easily. It’s like seeing a 600 pound marlin in real life versus TV. No comparison.
Down here , we are aware of him. He comes down the East coast, goes into the Gulf, then heads back up the east coast in the Spring. He has cruised around fishermen, etc, giving people great photos, but hasn’t bothered anyone.

Divers react differently to sharks.
Myself when I was in the boat getting ready to enter the water, I was more concerned with sharks than when I was actually in the water and saw them.

I’m sorry but I think that anyone who dives where ANY dangerous sharks are present, W/O being INSIDE of a secure cage, is “a sexual pecan”.
