House Democrats used their majority Friday to advance the most controversial gun control bill this General Assembly session, a ban on the sale of assault weapons and the possession of "high capacity" magazines of 12 or more rounds.
The House Public Safety Committee backed House Bill 961 on a 12-9 party-line vote, sending it to the floor of the House of Delegates. The bill would, among other things, require Virginians to turn over or destroy ammunition magazines considered to be “high capacity” and allow the possession of centerfire assault rifles but prohibit the transfer of sale of them in most situations.

I bet the gun shops along the West Virginia state line are stocking up on hi-cap magazines to sell to Virginians.
Remember the break in California’s magazine ban and the state was flooded with large cap magazines? I liked their printed cartons sent to Cali. Perhaps the stores in West Virginia can also load up. Looks like PMAG was giving California the “finger”. Now it is Virginia’s turn.

I assume you're referring to 30 round mags. They're only called "high capacity" magazines by the anti-gun left.
In the real world, those are known as 'standard capacity' magazines.

Let’s see how many brand new “felons” they try to prosecute and see how it plays out...seems like several other places tried to force registration/turn in under penalty of law and it bombed big time.

state legislators are not up for election until 2021. FYI
SW Virginia was on our list of places to consider for retirement, but the mess in Charlottesville and the loons at legislature have certainly curtailed my level of interest.
Currently on an extended house-hunting trip and am confident that I will find acceptable housing in some place other than California. The trick is getting out of the Golden State in the next 90 days.
