The actress from Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210 first revealed she had breast cancer in 2015 and charted her battle with the disease and its remission on social media.
She said one reason she came forward to say it has returned is because her health conditions could come out in court. The actress has sued insurance giant State Farm after her California home was damaged in a fire in 2018.
Id rather people hear it from me. I dont want it to be twisted. I dont want it to be a court document. I want it to be real and authentic, Doherty said. I want people to know from me, I just didnt want them to know yet.

Terrible
Prayers
Prayers up for her and her family. Terrible
I’m sorry to hear this. Best wishes for successful treatment ahead.
She’s a registered Republican.
So sad. It did not take that cancer very long to rear it’s ugly head again. Prayers up.
Prayers up.
I just knew it. ...hope she can beat this. ..
An oncologist told me a few years ago, the younger you develop breast cancer, the more aggressive it tends to be.
Stage 4, not good. I hope she is getting the best possible medical care.
They place great emphasis on age when deciding who can have the cancer gene test if it is breast cancer. If Ovarian cancer then you dont have the same age restrictions..which I had to point out to my insurance company
“An oncologist told me a few years ago, the younger you develop breast cancer, the more aggressive it tends to be.”
That is awful. A cousin of mine who is a doctor said as a person ages their chances of developing a cancer increases. My friend’s Uncle Steve celebrated his 100th birthday in October. Uncle Steve found out he had stomach cancer and was gone by January.
An oncologist told me a few years ago, the younger you develop breast cancer, the more aggressive it tends to be.
My mom had a breast cancer tumor removed when she was 72 years old. It was stage 2, a few cancer cells were found in her lymph nodes. She had surgery, but she did not need radiation or traditional chemo. She took Tamoxifen (an estrogen regulator) for a while.
She’s 91 going on 92, frail and small but cancer-free with no serious medical/physical problems.
Just a data point:
My mom got breast cancer at 80. She is 86 and healthy.
A young woman in her church developed breast cancer at 34. She died a year later.
My cousin Rebecca, aged 31, had surgery for a breast cancer tumor. Even with chemo and radiation, she was dead 18 months later. There was no history of breast cancer in her family.
My OBGYN told me 1 out of 9 breast cancers come totally out of the blue, no history in the family, not attributable to things like smoking, genetics, bad diet, etc.
1 out of 9, totally out of the blue, a lottery of very bad luck.
Ill keep her in my prayers. Bless her heart. Terrible news.
Very sad..basically a 3 yr remission(She went into a full remission in 2017) with breast cancer you are dealing with a different kind of beast..once it comes back again its even more aggressive than the 1st time..Prayers for Shannon she has been through so much praying that she can go into remission again
Mrs. henkster was diagnosed with stomach cancer in late 2016. She got the best care but was gone September of 2018 just after her 60th birthday. The problem with stomach cancer is that usually by the time its discovered, its already spread. The 5 year survival rate for her cancer is only 15%. When my wife’s was discovered, it was all through her large intestine. And the doctors at MD Anderson weren’t sure how it was spreading because it was not progressing normally. When the world’s leading cancer experts tell you that, you aren’t making it into the 15%.
So while age has some bearing, the type of cancer and whether it’s detected early enough is a major factor.
Perhaps it's true that cancer is less aggressive in older people BUT also true that older people are less able to fight it and that makes the difference in our perception that more old people die from this terrible scourge.
Yikes. (prayer)
