[China is a l bigger car market than US now. ]

In unit terms, sure. But not in dollar terms. The US is a much more attractive market for most carmakers, because the profits aren’t in the economy cars sold in China.

Well what do you think about them entombing folks?

Let’s be honest. It’s FAR from impossible.

Maybe they just want people to stay in their homes now, sick OR not.

It’s the quickest way to stop the spread and can only of course be done in a brutal communist country.

It is probably a little bit worse than officially reported.

~~~~~~
That’s an understatement! 8 bodies as he walks in and 2 more die during his quick tour. And that looks like a small clinic ...
Hey you know Staten Island? :)
Cool.
And thanks, that clears things up.
But we’re getting cramped out here, compared to what it once was out here.
Took me an hour plus to get to my home from the Verrazano at rush hour recently.
But in the late, late hours, I love driving my Challenger through they empty roads :)
YES, I have a tendency to ramble :)
After seven months there, I vowed I'd never go back. Now that so many years have passed, I'm actually curious to return, but with their health problems, that probably is not in the cards.
The closest I've gotten to being back there is co-workers, neighbors and news reports.
The village I first worked in was Shuifu in Yunnan Province. It was a tiny, extremely poor village with a few mud buildings with thatched roofs. The Powers That Be decided to locate a fertilizer factory there and built a Guest House right on the Yangtze River for all the foreign workers. The plant manufactured synthetic ammonia and urea from natural gas. Two years ago production was shut down because the country had a winter shortage of natural gas for heating.
Today the place is a regular city!
BMW, Mini and RR sell about twice as much units in China than in US. These aren’t cheap. Other luxury brands are doing about as great. I believe GM sells more cars (not counting SUVs and trucks) in China than in US too.
“Hard to get to the hospital that way.”
There is no public transportation, so hard to get to hospital. Also, people are being told only one person per household should leave their home every 2 days to get food.
Also, according to You Tube video, people have to have a gov’t quarantine paper to see a Dr. They dole out those papers to people with symptoms. Not everyone gets one. And if you have that paper, you may not necessarily be seen. But clinics /hospitals will not see you without it.
It’s another example of socialized medicine at its finest.
We can only guess, but 10 bodies at one exact moment with two succumbed on short video at one tiny clinic spells more than 200 dead nationwide.
That’s a beautiful city! Wow.
Can’t help wondering though how many cities like this were built at the expense of millions of outsourced American jobs.
But aside from that, it’ the best looking communist country I’ve ever seen.
Amazing that some from of capitalism for decades now hasn’t translated into political upheaval.
I figured once you see how fun making money and doing what you want is, communism doesnt seem that appetizing anymore
I was in China (coastal-rural area four hours south of Shanghai) in 2016.
The Chinese used to think that eating meat once a week was great. Now, everyone’s goal is to own a car. A lot do have a car, but most do not.
Cities are modern and clean. Suburbs and rural areas are squalor - mostly cinderblock homes.
Water and air is severely polluted...worse than 1970s Los Angeles. All food must be cooked, as typhoid is widespread.
Cities have a policeman on every corner, literally.
They have security around the perimeter of the hospitals, apparently. You have to beg and if you are lucky they may let you through the barricades. Real lucky....
True!
And that guy sounded like he was hurting!
I more and more don’t want this virus!
BUT could steroids and other treatments have opened the passages at least a little?
Will a fully equipped American hospital be able to save people in the same situation??
The place didn’t look like a cutting edge hospital.
In fact most of China looks like that now. It is not oxacart anymore. There are issues with quality of infrastructure but it is overall ahead of US.
If there is a million visitors I don’t know which hospital may handle it. AFAIK they are building two large hospitals in the area right now. Expected to finish in days. It would be impressive.
Did not see any ECMO machines - make sure your local hospital has an ECMO machine
OK, your post sent me to DuckDuckGo.com to see what the heck an ECMO machine is.
