The post office has decided they will no longer bring packages to our home because it's to far from the road. They will only bring items they think will fit in my mailbox (and so far, they think none of them will)
I'm not really in the mood to run 20 miles one way to get a package.
when you google "large mail box" or what ever you get cardboard boxes. when I actually find something that will accept a decent sized package its 3-700 bucks. I would assume if it's not an official mailbox (approved and all) they won't use it.
I'm open to suggestions as to how to address this. The carrier says his hands are tied. he is no longer allowed to drive up my driveway.
Go pick up the package at the Post Office. I don’t blame the Post Office. I would not have my guys trounce through mud and woods just to bring you a package.
sure, if I want to spent 10s of thousands of dollars re-doing our whole front yard.
aka..
no. Not really an option.
Not big enough.
I wish it was that easy, many places (like amazon) don’t let you pick.
it’s not the driver, he’d been ignoring the rule for some time I guess. they told him they would fire him if he didn’t stop going up peoples driveways and backing out.
the R on the gear shift is NOT to be used I guess.
Seriously though, try looking up "large mail receptacle" on amazon. Plenty of choices designed specifically to hold packages.
our mail carrier claimed she was not allowed to back up either. we live in Va.
it’s 275 feet of paved driveway ;)
not my fault the county does not maintain their gravel to my mailbox.
In a small town in Alaska its where you pick up your pkgs find out
what the latest gossip is and see who will actually make it through the winter

thats what I wanted to do. I have a couple of larger wall cabinets that lock. I was told “no, has to be approved by the US postmaster general”
If you have a disability you could qualify for the USPS hardship delivery program.
dVault makes some, but they are very expensive.
Put a box 200ft in with a key.
Have them leave the key in the box with the package.
You have the other key.

it is a company policy..
they claim it’s for safety.
I have to think everyone driving to town (and then backing out of the parking spot at the post office) is less safe..
I honestly think the policy is aimed at amazon. USPS is losing money hauling their stuff around.
lol
“If another ####ing letter goes to that kid’s house from that kid’s school, in the ####ing oven you go .head first!!”
:)
wife is technically disabled but not enough for that problem from the looks of it.
I do like your way of thinking though.
If you build your own mailbox or buy a custom-made one, it must meet the PMG standards. Show your local postmaster your mailbox plans or your custom-made box for approval.
ok, then don’t use Amazon.
Simple.
Take your business elsewhere.
If more buyers did this they would soon change their policy.
ok then don’t use Amazon
I replaced my regular size mailbox with one of these a couple of years ago and our mailman loves it. He wrote THANK YOU!!! in big red marker on the first package he delivered into it! :-)
I think its the jumbo size and the cost is around $40 - $45 on Amazon but I think Ive seen them for less at, maybe, Lowes?
