what to do when the post office won't deliver
02012020 | self

Posted on 02/01/2020 10:14:12 AM PST by cableguymn

The post office has decided they will no longer bring packages to our home because it's to far from the road. They will only bring items they think will fit in my mailbox (and so far, they think none of them will)

I'm not really in the mood to run 20 miles one way to get a package.

when you google "large mail box" or what ever you get cardboard boxes. when I actually find something that will accept a decent sized package its 3-700 bucks. I would assume if it's not an official mailbox (approved and all) they won't use it.

I'm open to suggestions as to how to address this. The carrier says his hands are tied. he is no longer allowed to drive up my driveway.

I’m not a package delivery company. They are.

they only sit on them for 2 days then send them back.

learned that the hard way.

it’s a new policy or something. They say because my driveway does not loop, and its more than 200 feet long for walking, they can’t come up to the house.

the drivers are no longer allowed to use reverse.

They claim no secure.

Well, I guess it's their rules for their service.
But unless your mailbox has a lock on it, that argument doesn't really work.

How secure are things put in the mailbox?

I think it has to be approved by the post master general. the stamp that is on all us mail boxes.

the carrier said he didn’t have a problem with a home made one, but “management” would.

Help the USPO get rid of the lazy delivery PERSONS.
Only use UPS or FEDEX.
Thats what I do.
The USPO persons are a bunch of lazy government employees that think we the public owe them.

In my area people just build a wooden box raised off the ground and clearly mark it Packages... Simple solution for postal, UPS and FedEx...
