Ok here it is, Are there "Mistake" US States that should have NEVER been allowed/invited to be part of our Great Country?
Its not the landmass, its the a-holes that live there. California was once a hard red state. Immigration changed that.
Shoulda, is the operative word there, friend...
Shoulda, with extreme prejudice and any means necessary.
But didn’t.
The differences in states should be our strength. But under the current Federal big government system states are mandated to do to many things that they could handle better on their own.
New York is great its the city that is the problem and the resident in particular not so much the commuters. They get each other thinking the govt is the answer as they depend on government services so much. Transportation, food, security
Look at r
The red blue voting map. A large part of NY is red even the East half of LI. The rest is blue as a lot of Texas
No.
My in-laws are from NY (NYC and Long Island). They’re okay but they steal the “r” from car and put it on the end of idea.
I agree with NFHale that no mistakes were made at the time. One mistake in the Constitution, however, was only providing a way for states to enter the Union. A way should have also be provided for them to be kicked out if certain standards were not met. Not upholding the Bill of Rights should grounds for removal, such as infringing free speech, religion, or firearms ownership, for example. Most progressive states would be cut loose by now.
Thats easy. If its blue, it was a mistake.
Hey, I take that personally.
I have another related question - can a group of states vote to REMOVE a state from the union.
Hawaii should be gone, as well as Puerto Rico and all other islands.Indefensible parts of the border with Mexico should be ceded back to them.
On the flip side, we should push for access to the gulf of California in the south, and we should just invade Canada (again), take over BC, and join Alaska to the rest of the USA.. We should extend the northern border to the St Lawrence Seaway and all of the coasts of the Great Lakes as well.
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
This article breaks down the conditions upon which the federal government may intervene in a state's affairs.
There is enough in this constitutional provision to permit the federal government to do a great deal should it wish to do so. Expulsion is not necessary.
Let the discussion begin today about our next Constitution for after the coming reboot.
Alaska, for its position near Asia
For Hawaii, for the perfect vacation spot.
Look at Pearl Harbor. THERE is courage.
Look at everywhere our military has been. We have soldiers, now all volunteer, who will fight and sometimes give their limbs and lives for us to be safe.
No where in this planet has there been such a place as this.
Oh, I forgot the ROMAN EMPIRE. They were the USA of 2000 years ago.
What’s wrong with New York State?
Would you relocate the resting places and presidential libraries of Nixon and Reagan before tossing California?
NJ should send all the NYC-ers back across the Hudson. But keep the state here.
Yep, the Constitution clearly states that in order for an area to secede from a state and form a new state, the area must have permission from the state.
Art 4, Sec 3
but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.
During the Revolution New York Colony was a Brit/Tory Stronghold and after the Revolution had to be “Begged” to “approve” the US Constitution(that is why the Federalist Papers were written(They were letters to the Editors to Newspapers in New York)). Alot of Issues the a befallen the US an be directly traced to New York(And later Boston) because of who was imported into the US as a result of Immigration(S Boston(Irish)), 5 Points(NYC)(Irish, Italian)).
