You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Over the next few days I will list the names of Todays CG puzzle solvers admitted to THE HALL OF FAME
The selection is based on the consistency of effort, fun, creative, sometimes goofy and lively commentary, and their general enthusiasm.
In addition their choice reflects their skill and temerity of purpose in the solving of these daily CGs and their support for this posting.
On February 26th, (The first day of Lent), I will name three Hall of Famers, and give a $25 donation to Free Republic in their behalf.
Congratulations to Today's Cryptogram Hall of Famer: 1_Rain_Drop;
1_Rain_Drop, started out with some timidity. I think at first, a little discouraged and in need of a hint now and then. Eventually, he became a solid daily puzzle solver, and at times a bit cocky when he can finish off a CG in a couple minutes. Congrats!
Solution to our last puzzle:
WE MUST BUILD DIKES OF COURAGE TO HOLD BACK THE FLOOD OF FEAR. ---MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
Is that with or without FR? :)
I had great faith that FR would come up and you would get out a cryptogram soon after.
That one was HARD! Three words gave me FITS! Good job! You really stumped me on this one!
2-3 min, it’s been Monday all week long.
Only embarrassment prevents me from posting my time.
About 2 and 1/2 min. I was Jonesing on my Today’s Cryptogram fix with FR down, but I kept the faith and finally FR was back up.
Guessed at the first word, hunt and peck after that.
Got the first two words right away, and the rest fell into place.
Nope. Good thing there’s nothing serious going on in DC. Nice to see the networks aren’t interrupting their schedules for the ‘Peachment.
Thanks for the HoF thing, but I think you meant to give it to someone else as I never asked for hints...
