The Trump administration on Friday announced plans to roll back school lunch standards originally promoted by former first lady Michelle Obama.
The new standards will allow schools more flexibility "because they know their children best," the Agriculture Department said in press release.
Schools and school districts continue to tell us that there is still too much food waste and that more common-sense flexibility is needed to provide students nutritious and appetizing meals. We listened and now were getting to work, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said.
The proposed new rules build on previous steps taken by the Trump administration to roll back the controversial school lunch rules which were championed by Obama as part of her Lets Move! healthy living campaign and signed into law by former President Obama.
Make Lunches Edible Again!
It took three years to do this?
When these rules passed, my kids said politics didn’t affect them. Then school lunches even changed at the private school because they received some federal money. My kids hated it.
Common Core was an issue, too. We passed school board election signs a year or two ago, and my kids were trying to talk as I spoke with my husband. “We’re discussing the political signs, what do you want?”
“Mom, there are all these signs. Why do they matter?”
“Well, X wants to lower school taxes, and Y wants to get rid of Common Core.” Dead silence for 60 seconds. “Mom, vote for Y. Or whatever you do. Get rid of common core.” The next five minutes were them complaining about the difference between Common Core and private school material.
“Its disgusting for first ladies to promulgate rules.”
Just another DEMOCRAT “WANNABE DICTATOR”.

Eliminating Common Core comes to mind as well.
Just came across a reference to “lawnmower sauce”.

MSLGA - Make School Lunch Great Again
I’m surprised it took this long. Two scoops of ice cream and a Big Mac for everybody!!
The problem is that the process for rolling back a regulation like that is still governed by the Administrative Procedures Act, and requires some reasons, notice and comment, etc.. If you just say "it's gone", a court will slap it back into place.
The exception was some regs passed very late in the Obama Administration for which there was a special statutory procedure to revoke.
There was nothing better than the smell of those homemade yeast rolls standing in line. 1-6 grade.
Yep. I was also lucky enough to be at Keesler AFB for training. (Biloxi, MS)
All local talent in those mess halls.
If Mooch’s lunch program was so good, why weren’t the same standards applied to the food stamp programs?
“As you can see from the USDA list above, the following foods are allowed:
fruits
vegetables
meats, fish, poultry
deli meats and steak
dairy products
breads
cereals
seeds and plants that produce food for the household
soft drinks
candy
cookies
snack crackers
ice cream
energy drinks (must have a nutrition label)
live seafood, such as lobster, fish, and shellfish
pumpkins (as long as they are edible)
birthday cakes (the non-edible piece of the cake cannot exceed 50 percent)
bakery items
Thats exactly what I thought. Give them something they like and theyll eat it. The food can be tasty and hearty to make up for the fact that the rest of the day some of the kids live on potato chips and soda because their parents dont give a darn.
Anyway, nobody ever got fat by eating school lunches.
But isn’t it rich to do this to the demonrats on the same day the impeachment hearing begins.
Why are we taking nutrition advice from Michelle Obama? Has anyone seen her?
From that pic i also remember his comment to MAJ Manchester’s comment of, “the man who cooks our food also digs our latrines?” And the great reply of, “don’t worry sir, i always wash my hands before i dig latrines.”
Seen Mike?
Charming, isn't he?
