Michael Bloomberg outlines plans for cleaner buildings, cars
Associated Press ^ | January 17, 2020 | Kathleen Ronayne

Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg would push for all new cars to be electric by 2035 and new buildings to produce zero carbon emissions by 2025 as part of clean energy plans he released this week.

Bloomberg’s latest climate plans build off his December plan to cut the United States’ carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. That’s less ambitious than the Green New Deal that many of his competitors have embraced that calls for achieving net-zero carbon emissions within 10 years. Bloomberg’s plans do not include total costs or specifics on how they would be paid for, details his campaign advisers say they will share later.

The newest plan, released Friday, outlines how Bloomberg would cut down on pollution from cars and trucks, the nation’s biggest source of carbon emissions. […]

Bloomberg would also invest in high-speed rail, pledging to build an operable segment in the next five years. The United States lags behind Europe and Asia when it comes to high-speed rail, and California’s effort to build the nation’s first major high-speed rail line, between Los Angeles and San Francisco, has been plagued by cost overruns and delays. …

“and new buildings to produce zero carbon emissions by 2025”

Which means all new homes will require so much high-priced material, that almost no one will be able to afford them.

This will put pressure on existing homes, which will sell for far more because you cant afford new, so everyone will demand used.

Which means more people on the street.

Well at least ‘tiny’ is giving the auto industry 5 years more than fake-a-haunt-us. Didn’t she say 2030?

This guy had New York City - a town with notoriously tough and complex building codes - for TWELVE YEARS. He could have implemented many of these changes in Gotham but didn’t do ANYTHING along these lines, except for constricting and closing 7th Avenue which caused gridlock. What makes anyone think that, as President, he could get any of this done across the Nation?

But of course nanny will still travel in comfort in an uparmored SUV with an Andre the Giant sneaker sized carbon footprint accompanied by a phalanx of armed security while us average mopes are disarmed and paying carbon taxes …..

I’m living on Social and a small 401K income.

There is no way in God’s green earth that I can afford a new car. I plan on driving what I have (2007 Dodge Caravan in VERY nice condition, and carefully maintained) until the sheriff takes my keys away. (I’m still a safe and competent driver.) I live too far away to walk to the grocery store, in a fully-paid for house.

Exactly.

Bloomberg in air conditioned, luxurious SUV chatting with House Speaker AOC: "I have to tell you, with all due respect, you have always been much too moderate on climate policy. That's going to change soon."

Bloomberg’s plans do not include total costs or specifics on how they would be paid for...

Or how such plans can even work. Forcing people to buy all electric cars at the same time he is closing power plants sounds like a scheme to restrict people's ability to travel. Is the ultimate goal a return to the days of stagecoach and horses?

I would like to see the Democrats transition plan to move everything to alternative energy. Of course they won’t say anything about the mining operations that will have to take place to produce the materials needed to build these new power sources.

High speed Rail, Mikey? I’m a ferroequinologist, but High speed rail is not workable, unless you ban boating on the Northeast Corridor. There are to many drawbridges on the Northeast Corridor and NIMBYs won’t let you build a new railline...

That’s the goal! Bloomberg and others who push this crap, it’s by design! People need to stop wasting their time trying to debunk Climate Change or calling advocates of it stupid. Just dismiss it out of hand!
