A rather eye-popping, pro-abortion tweet has been making rounds and gaining some steam — courtesy of Renee Bracey Sherman, who calls herself the "Beyoncé of Abortion Storytelling" and a "reproductive justice activist committed to the visibility and representation of people who have had abortions in media and pop culture."

As you might expect, Sherman got some pushback from anti-abortion folks — including Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood clinic director who became pro-life and the subject of the recent feature film, "Unplanned":

Adults do NOT know what goes on in kid’s heads and they shouldn’t pretend they do. Kids often keep their worries and fears to themselves so as not to upset the important adults in the lives
Telling a kid they should understand that it’s ok for some adults view some kids as disposable inconveniences is cruel and creates so much uncertainty. Just evil incarnate
Pregnancy can be avoided by either practicing continence or consistently using contraceptives. Pregnancy is "cured," as it were, by giving birth to the baby.
I'll go out on a limb and speculate that this woman's "explanation" to a child never includes the words "kill the baby."

My children are aged in the single digits and I don’t mention abortion around them - I don’t yet want them knowing that some parents willfully kill their children.
You also seem to be assuming that people with conservative opinions don’t get abortions. That is erroneous.

“Continence” is the correct term for not engaging in sexual behavior of any kind. It comes from the same root as “contain.” It is almost a synonym for “abstinence,” but it includes abstaining not only from intercourse in the reproductive form but from other sexual acts.
