Pregnancy can be avoided by either practicing continence or consistently using contraceptives. Pregnancy is "cured," as it were, by giving birth to the baby.

My children are aged in the single digits and I don’t mention abortion around them - I don’t yet want them knowing that some parents willfully kill their children.

Yeah. Tell your extant little ones that sometimes children are a problem and Mommy doesn’t want to refrain from starting them sometimes Mommy has to kill them. Great for mental balance and security. Kids really are just toys for adults and sometimes we don’t want them any more.
