Today’s Cryptogram

Posted on 01/12/2020 12:58:34 AM PST by nikos1121

KTMX RQH GVR ORQ WFL WMX XR TH RM JQFJRBL. —XRDDO JWFHRM

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: brain; cryptogram; puzzle; todayscryptogram
If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Above average difficulty. No big breakthrough, just picked at it until words started to appear.

That it is the approach I used. Kept trying three letter words until something clicked.

I thought of a certain former baseball manager for the author which was not right but it was close enough to give the quote away.

Know thyself.

Modesty? you? Go tell it on the mountain!

I focused on the seventh word only and it opened the rest. Took about 3 mins.

I started with the 3 letter words and gave up. Went back and solved the author!
The rest fell into place.

Picked the wrong double letter in the author’s name, assumed he last letter, and that opened it up. Didn’t know I had the wrong double until the end.

The author’s first name threw me off for a long time. Once I figured out the rest.

I “lit” upon the wrong two letter combination before I found the correct combination, but that was about the fifth or sixth letter I got correctly.
