A Louisiana man has been arrested for allegedly holding a loaded gun against his 9-year-old son's head after becoming angry that the child drank the last Dr Pepper in the house.
According to an arrest report, an officer met with the mother of the boy after she arrived at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office annex to make a domestic aggravated battery complaint.
The 9-year-old boy, with his mother present, also spoke to the officer. He said that on December 28, his father, Chad Kinnaird, became angry at him because he consumed the last Dr Pepper in their home.
Kinnaird, 39, of West Monroe, had reportedly been drinking alcohol that night and was carrying a loaded handgun when he entered the family home.
Kinnaird is alleged to have then held the barrel of the gun against the boy's head because he was upset that the child had taken the beverage.
Deputies also spoke to Kinnaird's 11-year-old daughter, who was inside the home at the time of the alleged incident but did not witness it.
She told police that her father admitted to placing the gun against the 9-year-old boy's head.
Kinnaird was arrested after police arrived to the home. A .32 caliber handgun was also recovered from a bedside nightstand inside the residence.
Kinnaird has since been charged with domestic abuse battery and child endangerment. He also faces an additional felony charge of violating a protective order.
The 39-year-old denied the allegations against him.

A & W root beer, diet or regular, is the best.
Well, Mississippi Man and Alabama Man are in between............
No. Now if it was Mountain Dew Throwback. Well who hasn’t pulled a gun on their kid for that?
Well did he SHOOT the boy? No? Then no harm done.
Bet that little peckerwood won’t do that again.
He’ll never touch another Dr. Pepper as long as he lives!....................
Hate to see what would have happened if it was the last beer.
People know better than to drink my last Coke classic.
Under Obamacare the best you were allowed to have was nurse practitioner Pepper.
Probably had a confederate flag bumper sticker up until he recently.
Thanks.
My coffee level isn’t high enough to ferret out, “a thinly veiled attack on gun ownership, disguised as a local human interest story...”
Youll have to pry the last Stewarts Cherries and Cream from my cold dead hands!
I bet she was hot!.................
If I had been his wife he have some up with a gun aimed at his head telling him there’s the door and don’t come back.
I grew up in the SW, and that was the best treat there was after a hot day.
My wife grew up in the Mid West, and she felt the same way.
Our parents or grandparents would take us to the nearest AW and buy this heavenly treat about once a week. The A&W franchise owners made so money in the spring, summer and fall, they closed down for the winter months. Our families started us on the bottled tradition at home.
Our local Walmart carries real AW Root beer.
When our grand kids used to visit they would sit on our glider on our back deck after dinner and enjoy that moment of great delight and discussions with their grandparents, us, and an A&W ice cream float.
One day last summer, our grandson and his best friend visited for a charcoal hamburgers dinner and other goodies. After dinner he suggested the A&W treat. We had the makings ready.
His friend got his parents to buy A&W to serve with Ice Cream on warm evenings. His family is now addicted.
One of our adult sons lives within walking distance to an A&W. He and the love of his life after dinner often walk to that A&W and buy the treat that he and she grew up with. Drives the diet Nazis nuts, but who cares.
Any proper Texan drinks Big Red anyway
Creme Soda is good, but usually fattening as hell...............
I’ve been stuck in this section of the country for almost a year now.
And this... this doesn’t surprise me.
Frostop is better but very hard to find.
It could have been worse. The kid could have smoked his pot.
