After delivering a scorching opening monologue at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Ricky Gervais rounded out the ceremony by laying into the room of Hollywood insiders for their complicity in the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
Bringing Sandra Bullock on stage to announce the final award, Gervais said, Our next presenter starred in Netflixs Bird Box, a movie where people survive by acting like they dont see a thing. Sort of like working for Harvey Weinstein.
After the crowd erupted in boos, Gervais replied, You did it! I didnt, you did it!

I always wondered how she became a star.
BTW, Gervais is as liberal and anti Trump as any other entertainment hypocrite. This was just a monologue.
Its an act. Hes having us on, not his audience. Taking the piss out of us as the Brits say.
He went full Howard Beale!
I think he is just awesome.
no way did he do that without approval. his speech was loaded on a teleprompter.
it has lit up social media and the news so they got the publicity.
just not sure who okayed it.
a lot of stars looked pissed..like Hanks
He supports heavily the saving of dogs from the meat dog trade in Asia.
Bigly.
Also Humanity is pretty good.
I guess Ricky was tired of hosting; he’s pretty much guaranteed he won’t be invited back.
At first I didn’t care for him now I think he’s great!
Yes, they looked PO’d.
He was hysterical. Only the comment about Judy Dench was inappropriate.
Hes a Trump-hater of the first order, lets not get carried away here.
It was a joy to behold that monologue though, Ive got to admit. Maybe hes like Michael Moore with occasional bright shining moments of lucidity in between long stretches of predictable leftist boilerplate or something.
Agree, I posted that in another thread too, the Judy Dench thing was probably the single most vulgar thing I’ve ever heard on cable. To be fair to the broadcast, it was heavily edited and muted. But you could still read between the lines and figure out what he was saying and it was shockingly crude, even when you’re expecting and prepared for that type of humor.
I think he was actually kind of acting out what he was saying there too, as though he knew he would be edited but was going to sign and act his way through it so the viewer would also get the gist.
Wife and I just looked at each other like wth, he just do that on tv???
Awesome! If anybody deserved to be skewered for being the most hypocritical preening cynical scumbags, its the Hollywood crowd.
Don’t read too much into it. Yeah, it got ratings, but only because of Gervais. Ratings are more important than the feelings of commies who play in movies.
Gee, maybe Hollywood got a glimpse of what “speaking truth to power” really means.
I suspect, though, that it (like everything else real) goes right over their heads.
Yes, thankfully it was bleeped but one could use their imagination. I didn’t watch on tv. Just the monologue on internet after the fact.
Regardless of Gervais motives in delivering this evisceration on live TV the reactions of Spielberg, Hanks, etc shows they did not like hearing it.
And after his comment about don’t get political when you accept your award, say your thank yous and get the F* out I wonder if any winners did the political thing as is usual?
Girls still dropping panties for rappers etc.
Michael Moore had a bright shining moment?
Did he lose a fat shaming contest that I don’t know about?
