A tattoo used to be considered "cool" because not many had one and thus you were identified as some sort of rebel.
Now this has completely flipped. People without a tattoo are now the rebels, the ones who dare to be different...
We who don’t have them call them tramp stamps. I’m a millennial but I have none, I don’t even have pierced ears or dyed hair. Heck, I don’t even paint my nails.
I started telling my kids very young “no tats”. I had to go through their Valentine’s day cards and from kindergarten!!! And pull out the temporary tattoos that parents put in there... Usually about 3-5.
It used to be that if you had a tattoo, you were either a convict, in a motorcycle gang, or enlisted in the military! Now EVERYone has them — grandmothers, soccer moms, first-year accounting students, you name it!
I was watching Jeopardy Friday. One of the contestants had a nose ring. It basically ruined the whole show. Just could not quit being disgusted.

Yes, and notice the ‘same sex marrieds’ seem to HAVE to make a point of a she saying “My wife and I .......” or a he saying “My husband.......”
Of course, I am an ‘old fuddy duddy’ who remembers when a woody was a Ford station wagon with wood panels, and gay was happy and free ...still get a kick out of the movies from the 30s with a Fred Astaire saying ‘we sure had a gay time last night’ and beaver was Ward & June Cleavers youngest son.
As I endlessly prattle on about certain topics pertaining to current trends and public affairs, tattoos are an obvious subject.
I keep my eyes open on the 20 something college kids (ie future leaders) who tend to hit the beach - often in groups - over the holidays. From my observation, I'm not seeing tats anymore among this demographic. I'm talking good looking, clean cut gals and dudes, either strolling, riding bikes, etc.
My theory is that like all things, the current generation wants to carve out it's own identity. The previous 1-2 generations are now in their late 20-30s. With loss of shape, looks, maybe some hair, and a few failures, it's not so hip to be a sorry looking loser covered in tats.
My son is soon to be 21 - he and his frat friends are all tat free. I see the look in his eye when he sees a 30 something, trucker hat retard trying to still be cool. Sorry, that ship has sailed, along with the image they established in the 90s & 00s.
My Dad spend 4 years in the Navy in WWII. He saw his share of tattoos there and always was strongly against them, even though he respected his fellow sailors who had them. He always told us, that in his opinion, these guys only got them because they were drunk on shore leave, or because some woman or tattoo-parlour tout talked them into spending money on one.
Anyway, he became a hiring manager for a very large industrial plant in later years, and an unconcealed tattoo during an interview almost always meant that guy did not get the job. Its just the way he was - as was corporate culture was in the 50s and 60s.
Leviticus 19:28
You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.
For those who claim it is ‘not against God’ to have a tattoo.
Tattoos are repulsive. Why people disfigure themselves and desecrate their bodies. It is a mark of having given yourself over to Satan. It is prohibited by Scripture, so I find it particularly disturbing when so-called Christians desecrate their bodies. One of the first things that happened when my ancestors became Christians is that they followed the Bible and tattoos were prohibited.
I have noticed the same thing. They think they have to make a point of having a homosexual or lesbian partner.
You also see it in advertisements. You can’t be certain, could be just friends but basically you can.
Another relatively new trend is grandparents with their grandkids some of which are various races. Could just be adopted but you get the message that it is being pushed.
What times I hired talent for my mediocre stock footage productions, no ink was the main priority.
None of what I sent up to the agencies ever sold. The clips still show up on the first page of one gallery in terms of popular.

Re relligion and tattoos .... within the pagan community, tattoos are seen as spiritual insignias.
I suggest, to hear from someone’s own mouth, as to the whys and wherefores, you take a look, on YouTube, at the two separate time and date recorded videos of a young lady called Shadow Harvest.
I’ve asked a couple of guys if they injured themselves, one a police officer and the other a physician assistant. They both told me they had tattoos that they had to keep covered.
I personally do not like tattoos
. My neurologist has a tiny diamond stud in her nose. It’s so tiny it’s barely noticeable. It might be a cultural thing. It doesn’t bother me.
a real yaBANGee...
I’m up there now and she has several videos. Which ones specifically?
A few years back, Oregon stopped the marijuana dispensaries from taking tips. One of them put a jar on the counter that said “Poor life choices fund.”

Some people have REALLY bad judgment.
There are some talented tattoo artists in prison. I knew a guy that had far too much of their work on his arms.
